Dear actions speaks louder than voice, let your parents see your fruits and notice the change in your life, nothing will convert them like a life testimony from you or a situation whereby a family member is sick and you pray for them and they get healed, evidence silents arguement. Let the love life show forth from you to them and trust me God's love is highly contagious if you truely walk in love and pray for them, it wont be long before they have a change of heart. And as for you hope you have a genuine intimacy with God because just attending a church won't grant you eternity neither does it mean you're pleasing God.

. OP, God is with you as long as you are a true Christian. There is nothing wrong with you. But there is something wrong with your parents. They are dogmatic Roman Catholic church goers who like to impress their peers and church more than God. They want a Roman Catholic wedding for you and have actually looked forward to that to impress their peers and society, but you have upset them by leaving the Roman Catholic church. And the only solution is God. Pray for them and then go and see their parish priest to help you talk to them to be reasonable . If they are in Lagos, report to the Bishop in Lagos. I was a Roman Catholic fanatic before I joined Pentecostal ministry and I am still keeping my friendship with brethren in Roman Catholic church and whenever I attend their weddings, I share in the Holy Communion.

Woman, it is obvious u don't need any piece of advice. U are an ardent follower of a religious group. U vowed never to marry a catholic Man and that invariably shows u have developed hatred for ur parents simply because they are Catholics and refuse to follow u. OP in my own opinion, I think u have made a good choice in putting your eternity above your parents...the life we are living is a one man race and not a family race...honestly, I don't think bringing forth this type of question here is the right thing because everyone will definitely bring up his or her own idea, but this is my own solution... The bible says in Matthew 10 vs 35... For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.....this quotation means that definitely for one to follow Christ he should not let his parents or anything hinder him or her...it doesn't mean that u should be at war with them but it means that u shouldnt let them hinder u...we know ephesians 6:1 but we misinterprete it...it says Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.... I want you to take note of 'in the lord'...clearly, if what ur parents are telling u is out of the lord, then obeying them endangers your salvation...some people here quoted the commandment which says honor your father and your mother....in the Hebrew translation that word honor in the commandment means 'kabed' which means centering on honoring God Himself. So if you are honoring your parents and it doesn't honor God then you have disobeyed God. Catholicism clearly exalts Mary as an intercessor for man to Jesus to God, always asking her to pray for us but the bible states that Christ is mediator between God and man, the bible did not state any method to reach Jesus via any other person except praying to him. There are also other instances like when the catholics bow to images of peter and other images of which the bible says clearly do not bow to any graven image...so my dear follow your heart according to God's leading...don't let your parents take you to hell...still respect them, care for them and love them even if they chase you away and also pray for them...trust me with God on your side one day too they will be on your side...look for a church that preaches the totality of the scripture and not just one sided scripture...it must not be a popular church...in all just ask God for direction and wisdom.

Be on your knee or prostrate. Beg them until they "Yes" you. It is paramountly important.

I dont think you should receive communion if you arent a practising catholic. especially if you also havent gone for confession in over a year.

Just keep praying for them and let your character and way of life shows that indeed you are Christ follower. With time, your prayers and life style can help in converting them or letting them accept you for who you are.

There are some Catholic doctrines that contradict the Bible

To be honest with you Nne, Family is more important than nowadays Religion..

From the comments it seems Catholics aren't even considered as Christians . Many are just saying "Pray for them", "The holy spirit would touch their heart", "Congrats for your salvation" etc. Religion is a huge joke.

My house is catholic, mom and sister. Till this date I can't remember the last time I entered a catholic church even though I am going to be a catholic forever. Mom somewhat understands.

For you to get this persecution kind of reaction from your parents, then you're on the right track with God. Devil only fights what is right before God. Pray for your parents. Do not forsake the gathering of the brethren especially weekly services and Sunday school. Study at least a chapter of the Bible daily and pray without ceasing. God will strengthen you as u seek him and strive to live holy.
