It's so unfortunate that some Muslims in a bid to propagate their religion say things that are incorrect and rather than guide lost people, misguide them the more. Pls note the following: 1. The prophet (S.A.W.) fasted on Monday which was the day he was born. 2. He was born on the 12th of the 3rd month but there's no record that he fasted on the day. Remember that his birthday could be Monday this year and Tuesday or Wednesday next year. 3. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was a prophet and an example to mankind not an ordinary man like us. 4. His companions who are the best of people as reported in narrations from the prophet (S.A.W.) did not fast on their own birthdays. They knew the prophet (S.A.W.) and loved him better than we do. 5. Any act we do expecting to get rewarded by Allah must be traceable from Quran and sunnah. My personal advice is don't do it. Those who claim that you can but shouldn't make it flamboyant should provide their evidence. Islam is about knowledge and not I think that it is correct. Intention only doesn't make an act valid. The deed itself must be valid. (Check An-Nawawi's 40 hadiths). That's what differentiates us from others. May Allah keep us guided. Allahu 'aalam. |

Islamically, the Shia for instance commemorate the birthdays of the Prophet (sa) and the Ahlul-Bayt (as).however, that is not to be taken as "celebration" in the sense birthdays are done partying and noise-making.using a certain date to remember the beloved of Allah doesn't mean we would be singing and dancing, eating and drinking as is done in what we know of birthdays.commemorating or remembering the chosen ones of Allah (swt) involves educating ourselves about their lives and reminding us of how to lead our own lives as they did. |

LagosShia: I repeat Islam is about evidence and not i think it's right. Did the prophet's companions do it? I know the shia don't revere the companions for reasons best known to them. Did Ali do so? Do you understand Islam better than Ali? |
