Babatunde Fashola always wanted to be a lawyer, but circumstances almost forced him to change his path in life.

But for his passion and resilience to go after his dream, the former governor of Lagos state, may today be a post-master.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, said he was jobless for several months after graduating from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

Upon the completion of his National Youth Service Corps mandatory one-year programme, Fashola’s father gave him the opportunity to work with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Back then, a working opportunity at NIPOST was what every graduate wished for, but Fashola’s heart was in the courtroom.

He was passionate and determined to be a lawyer, that he turned down the offer to join NIPOST.

Fashola made this disclosure on Saturday, while speaking at a Young Business Leaders of Nigeria (YBLN)-organised programme for mentoring entrepreneurs.

“I had a different passion and that was being in the courtroom; I therefore had to go for my dream to find a job that would help my career. It took me a while before I could get a job and that meant I was jobless for several months after NYSC”.

“I am happy to see young people doing great things in their various areas of business. The better Nigeria, we hoped for begins with you.”
