Fast rising Nigerian actor, award winning poet and humanitarian Chuma Mmeka has again received national kudos for his advancement of the cause of vulnerable children and the youth.

This new commendation was given by the National Association of Igbo Students (NAIS) at a Grand Award Ceremony held at Rosy Arts Theatre, Owerri on Sunday 22nd November, 2015 to honour frontline Igbo sons and daughters who play exemplary roles in social development and humanitarian causes.

Presenting him with the plaque for the 'Knight of the Nigerian Child and Youth' award, President of the association Edede Ndulagu described Chuma Mmeka as a worthy son of Imo state and Igboland, who has shown notable commitment in the campaign for the promulgation and enforcement of Child Rights Laws in states across the south eastern Nigeria.

Speaking further on the recipient, Secretary of the association Miss Ihuoma Unegbu elicited standing ovation as she reeled out a list of activities and achievements by Chuma Mmeka through his Safe Child Project, the Association of Orphans and Vulnerable Children Non Governmental Organizations in Nigeria (AONN), the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and the Niger Delta Youth Forum (NDYF).

Receiving the award, an elated Chuma Mmeka thanked the Organizers and all Igbos for the award and promised to work relentlessly in his lifetime to advocate for and provide support to vulnerable children towards eradicating youth restiveness, insecurity and poverty from the society.

Other celebrity awardees at the event included the wife of the Governor of Imo State Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha who was represented by a personal assistant, and H.E. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu former Governor of Abia State.
