It is very sad to see women on Nairaland who are expected to protect the interest of a gender already perceived as weak and less important in the society, instead lashing out at a victim of rape because she kept going back to those who raped her.

Even wives are raped by their husbands in what could be termed 'spousal or marital rape'. Our culture frowns at women making a case out of marital rape as they are perceived to be properties of their husbands. So we see many women ignore cases of marital rape by their husbands. Does that now mean because the wife chose to ignore and move on or even agree to have sex with her husband later, then no marital rape occured?

A 17-year old teenager is considered to be naive and can easily be manipulated to do certain things outside their wish in the name of love which actually is obsession. If these allegations were made in a Western country, will it be considered as a rape case or not?

According to Wikipedia, rape can be classified but is not limited to:

1. Date Rape
2. Gang Rape
3. Spousal and Marital Rape: Marital rape (also known as spousal rape and rape in marriage) is non-consensual sex (i.e., rape) in which the perpetrator is the victim's spouse. It is a form of partner rape, of domestic violence and of sexual abuse. Once widely permitted or ignored by law and society, marital rape is now opposed by many societies around the world, repudiated by international conventions, and increasingly criminalized.
4. Acquaintance Rape
5. Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA)
6. Child sexual abuse and In.cest
7. Statutory rape: Sexual activity that violates age of consent law (below 18 years of age in Nigeria), but may neither be violent nor physically coerced.
8. Prison rape
9. Payback rape
10. War rape
11. Corrective rape
12. Custodial rape
13. Rape by Deception: is a crime in which the perpetrator has victim's consent and compliance but gains it through deception.
14. Sex Worker rape: whereby a person refuses to pay a sex worker after agreeing on consensual sex at a particular fee. etc

In saner climes with strict laws on rape, cajoling, manipulating or coercing your partner into having sex after they initially disapproved can be considered rape. Alas, we live in a country of sexual perverts, paedophiles & immoral people who hide under the veil of psuedo-religion and culture to satisfy their evil desires.

Many women are being raped in their relationships but they call it fun. No wonder one NL 'Sandra****1' posted that some guys like rough sex and so Audu's son's action cannot be considered a rape. SMH! Little wonder a lot of young ladies today are in abusive relationships and are quietly enduring it. *pours spit*
