I must admit the boys played well. They fought for the ball and had a quick recovery rate whenever the lost the ball to the French players. Though I am not a fan of Amodu Shuaibu, I am happy for him. He still has to prove he is capable of the taking the Eagles to the World Cup next year. Vincent Enyeama was amazing. No wonder he received a lot of accolades in Israel. The French team was not that bad. Our boys were just determined to win. That is the kind of spirit we need to carry into the game against Kenya this coming weekend. Cheers All. |

For those of you commenting about our defense, as I said this morning: ADELEYE is a GOD. Ever since I saw him at the Olympics, honestly there are very few defenders better. The guy is MAGNIFICIENT. Olofinjana ran the show in midfield in the second half. He had some lovely long range passes with excellent vision. asha 80: our left back is Echiejile. |

I can't wait to see Yobo, Mikel, Obasi, Yakubu and even Ajilore back in this team. I am surprised Yusuf Ayila played well on the right. At least he was mosly there |

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY Ik Uche turning Evra around and around in the build-up to that goal. I shudder to think what France would suffer at the hands of a team like Spain on that perfomance! |

The man of the match is undoubtedly Vincent Enyeama, without him, they should have scored at least 4 goals. Now i see why he was the Israeli player of the year. |

France was definitely shyte and tonight confirmed the fact that they just aint got the spirit of the Zidane eras. Nigeria played better football, no questions about that. football is a team sport and no matter how great these bastards (Anelka, Ribery, Benzema etc) do for their club, they are ZEROS for their country!!!!!! |

Wow! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the minute by minute online commentaries and anlysis posted by you guys. Its 2nd to none. Many GBOSAS for Naija. For me Adeleye was the Man of the Match. He should be a starting 11 player for the super eagles by now. He is definitely better than Yobo , Shittu ,Nwaneri and all others in central defence. |
Re: France(0) Vs Nigeria(1) On Tuesday 2nd June by lawyer(m): 12:40am On Jun 03, 2009 |
The good thing about the win is that more FIFA top 20 teams will want to start playing friendly matches with us unlike the previous era whereby we only play 4th rate countries during friendlies. I beckon the English FA and Argentine FA will want to start playing friendlies with us since we can adequately test their teams too. Our FIFA ranking should also jump sky high after this result! Well done!!! |
Re: France(0) Vs Nigeria(1) On Tuesday 2nd June by Sagamite(m): 12:49am On Jun 03, 2009 |
Here is my analysis of the Olympic team after the semifinal against Belgium, when I finally knew Adeleye was the man. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=157226.msg2677274#msg2677274 I will still like to see Ajilore, Obasi and Kaita (if there is no Mikel) in the team. But with Olofinjana's performance today, Kaita is falling down the pecking order. |
