Most Biafran Agitators Did Not See Civil War –ezeemo by madjnr: 9:45am On Dec 04, 2015 |
A frontline industrialist, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has called on the pro-Biafra protesters to have a re-think of their actions and consider its consequences on the generality of the Igbo residing in different parts of the country and tread with caution. He said grounding businesses in the South East, destroying properties of their brothers, and preventing women from fending for their families, among other negative implications of violent protests, do not give credibility to their call, rather dialogue and diplomacy must be employed in resolving any issue of interest, not war or confrontational principle. Ezeemo said that 99.9 per cent of the people parading themselves today as pro- Biafra crusaders and going about their agitation in a violent manner did not see or experience the 1967- 1970 Nigerian civil war and as such do not know the consequences of their action. He called on the protesters to go home and ask their parents, uncles, war veterans in their various localities what it means to incite war and its benefits. “There is nothing good that will come out of conflict, confusion, crisis, not to talk of war where every where will be in comatose. “Native intelligence must be applied in every frontier of Igbo existence so as to achieve the resounding progress we need to leave behind for upcoming generations, not destroying the empire we managed to build after the civil war. “Igbo are very much blessed and loved exceedingly by God, no country anywhere in the world had recovered half what that Igbo had after going through the turbulent sea of war, we need to be grateful to God for this grace,” he said. Ezeemo said the Igbo should be wiser in handling its affairs so as to ensure that all the efforts of our nationalists do not go in vain, Nigeria is for all and we cannot after much sacrifices lose out due to unplanned and uncoordinated programmes. He said the Igbo should borrow a leaf from the manner in which the Yoruba handled their case during the annulment of June 12, 1993, presidential election and ensure that we do not inflict injury on ourselves in the course of fighting for our rights. Ezeemo urged the protesters to shelve any violence mechanism and go back to the elders who know better for advice and techniques on solving the impasse, while urging the government to wade into the reasons for agitation and for resolution as the country was going through lots of economic and insecurity crises. 2 Likes |

Does Mr Ezeemo belong to any political party? There seems to be a pattern to his tone. |

On a sensible note, most of these agitators did not see the civil war. He's right there. However, the current president saw the civil war and was a part of it. He should have learnt from it and devised new methods to conflict/dispute resolution many years on. Why let the situation get to this. How do you govern a country where there is unrest in the north east and now the south east. He is 2 short of 6 already and is feigning ignorance. All regions are under pressure one way or the other. |

what is happening in igboland is a pseudorevolutioon!! Those so called leaders will take to their heel!because some of them are one criminal or the other!! political leaders are running away!! they can not even dictate to them!! Let me also say that in the east, the youths these days discussion is becoming "political topics " go to any joint in the east, 2 out of 5 discussants would be talking about politics especially biafra! this is unprecedented, honestly even the youths that spend time on Chelsea and man united have joined, the sagging boys, the make up girls lol have also joined, I know this because I'm on ground! most of my carefree friends have biafra flag, or related stuff on their dp. infact I was asking one what biafra flag is doingon his dp, he said nigeria is over for him, this guy was born and brought up in jos.. |

Sorry brother it's only an educated person that thread the right path in resolving and getting things done, most of those folks protesting only went to primary nd at most stopped at secondary education level, due to one reason or the other but it might interest you to know majority of them snubbed school cause of the love of money, now their elites are not been fair to them, instead of theses protesters to start by handling their elites who are the bane and master architect of their problems they instead chose to fight Nigerians and the Nigerian government, truth is every man alive have his or her own battles they fail to realize we the masses are all victims irrespective of tribe, region or religion. References include Alamesia who ate rat poison and James ibori currently serving prison term in UK Oh , and GEJ who didn't put just one transformer at Otuoke let alone good road Yet 2 trillion was used for campaign |

Afam4eva:Obviously, it's always about politics. PDP inclined Igbos speak in favour of the agitations, APC inclined Igbos speak against the protests. At the end, it's the masses that still suffer. Until we learn to channel the anger to the right opponent, until we learn to properly diagnose what the problem really is and attack the real problem, it will always be wasted energy. |

obailala:I just a little research and my fears have been confirmed. He's a member of the APC. When politians or people who have links with then talk, you will know. Mr Ezeemo would have just talked about the unwarranted death of people and destruction of properties instead of throwing away the baby with the bath water. The problem is not the clamour of Biafra by IPOB. It's the duty of the police to make sure that law and order is ensured during these processions and also make sure that trouble makers are separated from the pack and dealth with. It's not when they open fire at a crowd and kill people that people like Ezeemo instead of blaming the government are telling us that just because we were not alive during the civil war, we should not fight for our rights. I'm beginning to see the Biafran agitations not necessarily as one for independence but as a form of protest against the obvious maltreatment of Igbos within the Nigerian federation. Though I'm still largely indifferent. |

Afam4eva:wake up to reality bro, those who are protesting especially in onitsha are thugs who derive pleasure in constituting nuisance and erecting mayhem in the society. You guys are just habouring destruction all in the name of fighting for freedom. Shalom |
