meanwhile in the sme summit in SA, Kenya secured scholarship for 1,000 students and USD $1.5Billion for and industrial park to boost manufaturing among other deals for electricity

Xi Jinping has offered Kenya 1,000 scholarships for those wishing to study in China and $1.5 billion (Sh153 billion) for an industrial park in Naivasha.

"China will invest in the construction of an industrial park in Naivasha using steam power for the manufacture of well-priced commodities," the State House spokesman said on Sunday.

Manoah Esipisu added: "Some 25,000 Kenyan engineers and workers will be hired on the project while 15,000 local skilled workers and 400 engineers are being mentored."

In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, Esipisu also noted an RMB300 million (Sh4.8 billion) fund for a conference facility in the Foreign Affairs ministry.

The money will enable Kenya set up a facility of international standards to counter its shortage, he said following talks between Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and Xi in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the weekend.

Esipisu said the two governments also made progress on the China-Kenya joint laboratory for crop molecular biology at Egerton University. He said this was key to their new agriculture initiatives.
