There will always be some people whose personal, selfish interests are, in the short term at least, well served by the mismanagement and social iniquities. Naturally they will be extremely loud in their adulation of the country and its system and will be anxious to pass themselves off as patriots and to vilify those who disagree with them as troublemakers or even traitors. BUT DOOMED IS THE NATION WHICH PERMITS SUCH PEOPLE TO DEFINE PATRIOTISM FOR IT” – Chinua Achebe

my friend and I are flying down [from Canada] to Nigeria for charity work organized by her parish. We're just tying up loose ends to go to work in Lagos. She's going this week (June 6) and I'll be going on the 12th. I can't wait. Not sure the name yet, but we're going to an orphanage to donate money and spend time with the kiddies cheesy
We'll also be touching base with some schools there as well. Though my trip to UK/9ja was only suppose to be a vacation (I've got a wedding to attend on the 27th), I've gladly cancelled some plans (outings with friends/visits to family members) to do this

Not much but it's a start and i can't wait!! kiss

ITS AMAZING FELLOW 9JA PEOPLE TO C SOMEONE BITTING TRAFFIC LIGHT COMPLAIN HOW BAD OUR GOVT IS. JUST LISTEN TO PHONE IN PROGRAMMES ON RADIO OR TV WHERE U HAVE A SIMPLE RULE OF TURN DOWN THE VOLUME OF UR SET BEFORE UR COMMENT. SOMEONE WILL CALL AND WONT DO IT BUT THE PERSON CALLED TO TONGUE LASH LEADERS. BELIVE ME OUR PROBLEM AINT JUST OUR LEADERS BUT WE HAVE HANDS IN WHATS HAPPENING IN THIS COUNTRY.
SOME COLLECT MONEY AND VOTE AGIANST THERE MIND. WHAT I PERSONALLY BELIVE IS THAT THE LITTLE GOOD WE DO ON OUR OWN SHOULD WE DONE CONSISTENTLY NOT MINDING WHAT BAD THE NEXT PERSON IN DOING. PLZ I THINK THIS WILL GO A LONG WAY.

Had I been a programming expert what I would do for Nigeria is go around bringing down boards like this one because it is causing a lot of damage to the country which I suppose is the main aim here
Re: What Have U Done Personally For Nigeria ? by maxsiollun: 11:16am On Jun 21, 2009
We can all individually make tiny positive contributions to Nigeria, which if pooled together, can be massive. e.g. why not send your children's old school textbooks, pens, pencils anc calculators to your local village school in Nigeria? Donate clothes, all these are small steps that can help those who are less fortunate.
Re: What Have U Done Personally For Nigeria ? by INZ: 12:26pm On Jun 26, 2009
Max thanks a million for that brillant idea of text books, cloths and all that. i which we'll contribute our little quota irrespective of what our so call leaders are doing with time we'll make it.

Exactly the state of the luggard's cage called nigeria and some group of people are adamant for this rubbish to continue. Tomorrow their sons will be the first to blame white people about appartheid in South Africa, but will shamellessly support what is going on in the Niger Delta in the name of keeping the oil flowing. Cowards.
Re: What Have U Done Personally For Nigeria ? by Litmus: 10:06pm On Jun 28, 2009
Being a coward, I would like to help Nigeria in small ways. For instance, by doing charity work, and helping those less fortune than me no matter which tribe they come from. However, if I were not a coward I would help Nigeria by going to Congo, which is in disarray. I would gather as much brave Nigerians as I could and form a rebel army there and take over the country. After taking over Congo (it should be easier to take over Congo than Nigeria) me an my Brave Nigerians would run things in such a fantastic way it would show Nigeria what they are missing and they would cry for us to come home to Nigeria and take over. grin grin

Instead of standing up to those in Govenment and DEMANDING OUR BIRTHRIGHT be returned to us, we continue to create NGO upon NGO's; NGO's we know that have yet to even put a dent in the situation. Sad reality!!
