Aguero: I Hope Messi Can Help Me Join Barcelona
Atleti may have problems keeping hold of one of their star strikers this summer.
Sergio Aguero has stunned Atletico Madrid by stating that he hopes compatriot Lionel Messi can help him swing a move to Barcelona before admitting he will never join Real Madrid.
"I hope that Messi can take me to Barca, but that is a question for the directors to decide," Aguero is quoted as saying by Diario Clarin.

Compared to messi, I feel aguero is the more rounded player, and would turn out the better player by mid career, if given the opportunity with a top club like Madrid or Barca.
Atletico are perennial under achievers, and are not the club at which you become the world's best footballer.

How do you mean? Aguero is a more rounded player?

consider factors like ability to use the weaker foot, positions he can play in, finishing, robustness etc.
Watching both play on a weekly basis, the difference is clear.
Messi is exceptional in a few departments, Kun is very good in much more.

That is not a sound argument Diego Maradona was one legged, He couldnt use his head does that make Rummenigge better and more rounded

Ronaldo Lima does not use his head that should make Bierrhoff better.

Aguero plays in a lesser team so that would make him the central attraction

Have I said his being able to use both legs automatically makes him better?
I gave you a couple of areas you could consider when evaluating how rounded a player was, and all you have done is latched onto the first one and used it as an argument against a conclusion I never made. undecided
If you feel messi is a more rounded player than aguero simply say so, and you can support your conclusion with the right premise.
Both players are still very young, and one cannot say conclusively who will turn out the better player by their late twenties.

They may not be the most glamorous club in the Premiership, but Portsmouth now have a glamorous owner with deep enough pockets to help them achieve their ambitions.
Dr Sulaiman al-Fahim is the UAE's Sir Alan Sugar, starring in an Arab version of The Apprentice television show. He has struck a provisional deal to buy the club for an undisclosed sum from its Franco-Russian owner, Alexandre Gaydamak who acquired Pompey for £30m from Milan Mandaric, now owner of Leicester, in 2006. Mr Fahim also brokered the purchase of Manchester City for Abu Dhabi's royal family, but is no longer involved with the club, clearing the way for his involvement with Portsmouth. The sale price remains unknown. However, Deloitte have estimated that Premier League clubs have typically been sold at an enterprise value of 1.5 to two times annual revenue. On this multiple range, Portsmouth, with a turnover of £70.5m for the year to 2008, would be worth between £105.7m and £141m. But the credit crunch has depressed valuations of Premiership teams and Portsmouth's debts, of £57m last May, would also weigh on its equity value. Mr Al-Fahim was reported to have inquired about buying Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in January as part of a consortium to have bid more than £700m. He should be able to wipe out Portsmouth's debts and proceed with redeveloping Fratton Park now that the plan for a new ground has been mothballed.

Sunderland are the latest American-owned club in the Premiership after Irish-American businessman Ellis Short acquired the club. Short, who is the billionaire president of Lone Star Funds, now lives in this country. Short said, 'Sunderland is a very big club with a lot of fans, a big stadium, and a lot of revenue - and where you are in the position we are, where you are trying to improve things, it takes money.' Sunderland's battle against relegation this year was consistent with its reputation as a yo-yo club. However, Short has said that he does not want to ever go through a relegation battle again and is aiming at a top ten finish next season. He commented, 'It's a very well-run club, the scouting organisation, and the youth development programme are in place, so it's got all the pieces in place to be a long-term successful, powerful club.'

Kaka Passes Real Madrid Medical - Report

According to the global press, AC Milan star Kaka is set to sign for Real Madrid this evening after passing a medical.

The Brazilian midfielder was examined by a Real Madrid club doctor in Recife this morning local time, and has apparently been deemed fit enough for a transfer.

The exact fee involved is not yet known, but it is rumoured to be in the region of €64.5m.

This will bring to an end a transfer saga that began several years ago as Real Madrid made it their mission to bring the world's biggest names to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the operation only truly clicked into gear over the last month as former president Florentino Perez returned to power in the Spanish capital.

I don't think there will be any signing bigger than this - except if CR decides to move to Madrid. The only other player likely to command a similarly high fee a the moment is Messi, and we know Barca are not going to sell.

Anything is still possible though - now AC Milan is flush with cash, the deals should start rolling now.

Kaka's signing will definitely spin a web of transfer activities across Europe

The funniest transfer news I have heard all day is Ruud going to Spurs for 1.25 million.
That really looks and sounds ridiculous! shocked shocked
I will rather retire from footie and manage a Pub team or get a role in a second rate soap opera than play for the Spuds grin

@Brash. AC Millan coach is Leonardo. Man City offers more than REAL for Kaka but the needs more highly rated players to convince the likes of Kaka and Eto to join them

Man City needs more than players - it needs a world class coach and a slot in Europe before anyone will take them seriously. Remember Chelski was already in the CL before Shevchenko, Drogba and Ballack joined.

That would be interesting. At least he would give Arsenal fans one more reason to hate his horseface. grin

So far the big ones (value wise) have been Barry (£12m) and Kaka (£59m). I suspect the flurry of smaller deals will increase with only 3 or 4 'big' ones in the end.

Definitely Man City needs to get a world class coach plus the fact that they failed to get into europe didnt do them any favors. I was so sure they would sack hughes at the end of the season.

CR7 is overrated and over priced IMO.
Ribery would be a better buy for most clubs, particularly his playmaking is much better than CR7
Of course CR7 is definitely the more marketable (if not the most marketable) player.
