Sometimes it doesn't worth it being a Nigerian. Our government/leadership is extremely selfish and wicked. What a cruel system!. 1 Like 1 Share |

Funny how even lower animals are more reasonable and compassionate than most Nigerians. Calling this country a Zoo is an insult to those animals kept in the zoo. Forever religious, but who their religious acts don help? *spits* 1 Like |

In the same Lagos, politicians are ferried on leisure ride to occasions with choppers commissioned to serve the needs of the people... I pray the man survives because getting prompt and adequate treatment is another herculean task... |

LAGOS—Residents of Tapa Community in Ebute-Meta area of Lagos State, have called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to come to the aid of a 32-year-old mother of two detained at Denton Police station for allegedly reporting the death of her neighbour to the police. The woman, identified as Gbemisola, they alleged was being detained for her inability to pay N80,000 to bail herself from the police. The residents claimed that trouble started for the mother of two, sometimes in November when the apartment of one of her neighbours called Timothy was gutted by fire. Gbemisola was said to have raised alarm that attracted others who assisted in putting out the fire. One of the residents who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, the arrest and detention of the woman came as a surprise to everybody in the community. She said: “We were sleeping when the deceased’s neighbour raised alarm about the fire incident; we all rushed to the building and put out the fire. Few days later, there was serious odour enveloping the community. So, some concerned youths went into the deceased’s apartment only to find his bloated body on the floor and that was what prompted the neighbour to report the matter at the station. “When we heard about the woman’s arrest and detention, we went to the station in an attempt to persuade the Investigation Officer to release her only for us to be told that we should pay N80,000 or she would be charged to court for murder and arson. “We are appealing to Governor Ambode to come to the aid of the woman because she is suffering over what she knew nothing about.” |

Having take the time and pains to study the general attitude of most Nigerians, including the law enforcement agencies and the overly religious, hardly does any sad story emanating from this nation shocks me. It's It's a society without the minutest trace of value for human lives. Everyone's neck deep into the mad chase for money. No one's really interested in giving a helping hand to a fellow Nigerian. We may think people hardly assist victims because of the terrible manner of our primitive police and their sinister tactics- though that's a part of the problem BUT there's a genealogy demonic apathy to the sufferings of our brothers and sisters. We've got serious attitude problems occasioned by decades of moral decadence, unbridled corruption and primordial chase of money. There's this pressing need for the Nigeria police to modernise, although it's unfortunate the Nigeria police is made up of the same callous, greedy and selfish Nigerians. There's a need for a total overhaul of our national values, ethics and norms. What she described was a surface issue. The real and hidden causes are poverty, moral decadence, lack of love for one another, wickedness, endemic corruption. 5 Likes 1 Share |

And Nigerians wonder why the world was sympatising with France when they were attacked and did'nt care about Nigeria. Charity they say begins at home. When you value the lives of your pple the world will join you. 1 Like 1 Share |

I had a similar experience a few years back along Oba Akinjobi street when i saw someone lying in the middle of the road around 11.20pm. Meanwhile, a van just drove dangerously past us, we did not realise it was the van that knocked the guy down. We had no choice but to wait and carry the guy who was unconscious and bleeding seriously to General Hospital, Ikeja. The first thing that happened was that they called security who seized my car keys, impounded my car and also collected my Drivers's license. All my pleas that i was only being a good samaritan fell on deaf ears. They started giving me Prescriptions for drugs, injections et al and i had no choice than to start paying. If this guy who was a Hausa guy from his features should die, i would be in serious trouble. What saved me eventually was when an off duty policeman dragged in a man and was making enquiries if any accident victim was brought in from that location. It turned out that the policeman witnessed the accident and pursued the van on his own bike and caught up with him. It was only then i was left off the hook but poorer in the pocket. I dont know if the guy eventually survived because he was still unconscious when i left. Now, tell me, if you were in my shoes, would you be willing to help an accident victim in the future? That is the type of country we live in. 5 Likes 1 Share |
