Seun:
Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).
Mr Seun, I personally think you should employ a bit of leniency on this as it has some elements of ethnic sentiments, also it tends to go against the freedom of speech (which i am sure was what inspired NL)

Seun,
Very very very wrong. People have a right to agitate for what they consider to be their rights. Your arbitrary decision to muzzle this right is to say the least stunning. I'm non Igbo but I believe that if the Yoruba and Hausa look down on the Igbos then they might as well let them go. Unless you have received email from DSS then you must share with us so we know who to hold responsible if nairaland goes down or you disappear

You are correct seun. It is bad and terrible to look down on each other. We are the same. It is also bad to make ourselves belive we cant live together.

Live together under the terms of northern Nigeria which used its soldiers to restructure Nigeria politically, as well as supervised a constitution which it imposed on all in Nigeria?

Abeg, if some of you people from that southern end of Nigeria don't have the intelligence to understand that the present political structure with twenty federal units unjustly proliferated in one northern region makes the entire south look like a little appendage to the north to have contemporary Nigeria, please give way to others who understand it to free their areas from fraudulent Nigeria.

Land mass is never used as yard stick to derive new federal units from the existing federal units in a federal country.

There should have been more states and local government councils in the two southern regions than in the north after the last state creation exercise by Abacha

In contemporary Nigeria, northern politicians draw political over-representation in Nigeria's political process, as well as draw undue large amount of funds from federal allocations which north uses to dictate what can be or cannot be in Nigeria.

So what happens to freedom of expression and beliefs?.
In any country...including the US... freedom of speech has its limits. Nairaland is Seun's country.... and the limit he is putting is no different from that of any country. Wasn't it the same idea of freedom of speech that caused the genocide in Rwanda? Ask yourself.... what is the difference between freedom of speech and incitement. No doubt, we were always free to have intellectual discussions on any topic... but we have abused that freedom for too long...we have crossed the line. Feel free to start your own forum. .... we are tired.. we been tired of the 24/7 negativity and hostility and division being poured out here and been poisoning g the minds of our youths. Enough is enough.
