My dog is 4months old Bull Mastiff and he doesn't bark at people. He only bark when he sees me for attention but don't bark at strangers. It's that he won't bark or he is still young to bark. I bought him for security reasons.

Please Advise and contributions are needed to know what I can do to solve this barking issue.

You have a well-socialized, happy dog. Why would you want to turn him into an alarm barker? Dogs do not differentiate very well between friendly strangers/friends/family and threatening strangers. If you manage to succeed in getting him to bark at 'strangers' do not be surprised if this transfers to all people. If you have a PET dog (not a guard dog/watch dog), you should not attempt to 'train' him to bark at people. Without proper guidance your dog will not bark appropriately and you will be disappointed, if not sorry. wink

Restrict its contact with people. Lock it up at the back of the house always. Only release it at night.

Don't tend to be like that when they have too much physical contact with people.

Wow. Did you say four months old? It's still a puppy. In time it will become more territorial which is natural and may respond to strangers with a bark. But like mentioned earlier be careful what you wish for and ensure you get it grow up under proper tutelage.

In my opinion, you will need to invest time in training your dog.Unnecassay barking can become a real problem and you're sure to encounter that if you isolate the dog (discountinue socialisation) not to mention separation anxiety which could result in destructive behaviour.
There are countless training resources online.I would advise you do the research and train your dog to be the perfect companion.

in the first place did you read or find out about bullmastiffs before buying? Bullmastiffs are never aggressive. they are supposedly protective but most ive seen are just lazy heavy grumpy dogs. it pays to read up before buying. the fact that it has a 'heavy' name like bullmastiff or bulldog doesnt mean it has a heavy personality. as tiny as pitbull sounds.....you know the rest.

Bro, don't confuse barking instincts with Security. Not all Boasters can fight, and most good fighters don't boast. Moreover, ur dog is still a pup, let him be, let things take their natural course, his barking instincts will grow with age.

The two bull mastiff I have seen are aggressive and that made me go for it.
