10 Reasons Why You're Still Looking For A Job by jobberland: 9:59pm On Dec 13, 2015
According to Job research analysis, MOST Nigerian and foreign Recruiters/ HR only spend three to four minutes
reading a prospective employee’s CV.

In other words, it’s imperative for job hunters
to make sure their resume stands out.

The survey of 2,000 Employers by Nigerians New
Center of the Humanities found that
thousands of people will ruin their chance of
employment by making a series of blunders on
their CV.
So, to help you stand the best chance possible,
here’s the top 10 list of bosses’ bugbears to
avoid...

1. Typos and grammatical errors (such as
‘your’ instead of ‘you’re’ or ‘there’ instead of
‘their’)
2. Overly casual tone (keep it professional,
folks)
3. Use of jargon and clichés (don’t tell a boss
you’d be “over the moon” to work for the
firm)
4. A CV more than two pages in length (keep
it short and sweet - don't send him/her to
sleep)
5. Snazzy and unfriendly borders and backgrounds (simplicity
is key)
6. Writing in the third person (make sure you
refer to yourself as “I”)

7. Inclusion of clip art or emojis (save this for
messaging your mates – not a prospective
boss or employer)

8. The use of cringe-worthy quotes (“As
Ghandi once said...” will irk more than excite)

9. Unprofessional email address
(lardyboozer@hotmail.com wouldn’t stand a
chance)
10. Unconventional font (steer clear of Comic
Sans and Curlz) very common among job seekers.
