UMUAHIA—ABIA State Government said henceforth, pupils and students in both public and private primary and secondary schools would be not admitted unless they produce tax receipt of their parents.

The state Commissioner for Information, Bonie Iwuoha who announced this explained that it was the decision of the State Executive Council.

The government also directed all private and public schools to introduce skill acquisition studies in their curricula, saying it would help students develop their talents.

According to Iwuoha, the policy would also apply to returning pupils and students in January.

Iwuoha further announced that the government had also directed its ministries and agencies to henceforth, stop appointing revenue agents for the collection of revenue, warning that any agency that flouts the directive would be sanctioned.

What manner of madness! When did education of children become something to be trifled with, enough to hinge their admission on evidence of payment of tax?

Can the executive council not come up with effective ways of ensuring tax compliance and payment? So children will now pay d price of being denied education in d event that their parents don't provide tax receipt? What is d business of d education sector with taxation?

So called leaders just get away with so much because even d courts, weak as they've been made, have been barred from enquiring into whether d govt at every level has performed its duties towards d citizens. This is so shameful!

...and who will suffer the effect in the future? The society. Why depriving the children their right because a sin committed by their parents.
Imagine implementing this useless policy in the northern part of d country. Pls somebody should tell that man that our literacy rate is low and is affecting nigerian society. He should look for another means to deter or punish d parents unless he wants to send these children to ariaria main market to huck gala.
Why ar u blaming the parents when u use their tax money to build mansions. Idiat
