Official Specs Of The Xiaomi Mi 5 by noirsangre(m): 11:15pm On Dec 16, 2015
The Xiaomi Mi 5 which is Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphone is scheduled to be released sometime in early January 2016. Although quite a few leaks and rumors have surfaced in the recent past, no details had really been confirmed so far. That is no longer the case as online retailer Oppomart has listed the official specifications of the Mi 5 on their website. Oppomart has had a habit of leaking official specs of phones in the past and they all turn out to be true so we have every reason to believe them.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Is A Big, Powerful, Machine.
Contrary to a lot of rumours stating that the Mi 5 will pack a 5.2 inch display, Oppomart has listed the phone as having a 5.5-inch sized display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution. That makes the next Xiaomi flagship a phablet much like the Tecno Phantom 5. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 which means that the Mi 5 isn’t slowing down anytime soon. This is actually one of the rumours about the device that came true as we have seen multiple rumors about the device being powered by the Snapdragon chipset. The rumored 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM has also been confirmed in the listing. Oppomart has also given us the details about the internal storage on the Mi 5. The smartphone comes in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants.

As for the camera on this device, the rear camera is a 20mp shooter and an 8mp camera can be found on the front of the smartphone. This is quickly becoming the standard for flagship devices. The Xiaomi Mi 5 shines when it comes to battery life. Sporting a massive 3800mAh battery, the smartphone will not leave you looking for a power outlet. Coupled with the promised greater efficiency of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, the Mi 5 could leave most flagship smartphones lagging when it comes to longevity.

Some other details are still not known yet though such as if there would be a fingerprint scanner, if it would come with the new USB C technology, and if it would be waterproof or not. But one thing we can fairly sure of is the pricing. Oppomart has listed the Mi 5 for $599 (around 120k Naira), which is definitely a great price when you consider the hardware on offer. The pricing of the Mi 5 is definitely aggressive as it is cheaper than the flagships other manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple have on offer.
