How are you coping with the lack of memory card slot? How much of the internal storage space is user available?
I thought USB OTG is an added advantage. Is it not d same as using an external memory? Pls anybody who understands better should explain.

OTG helps you such that you connect to an external storage device and use it as though it was an "sd card" storage space, but it can be cumbersome moving around with such storage device connected compared to SD card which normally will portably sit inside the phone and not extend outside the phone. Eg: it's difficult to put your phone in your pocket with the OTG device still connected.

U can only use 27gb out of d 32gb...seriously, i download a lot of things on phone. 32gb is not enough for me... My former phone came with 16gb,i had to buy 32gb mc to satisfy myself, and now the way I see things, good products nowadays don't come with external sd or removable battery.. Not all though but settling for this is beta. I have to minimize my download limit... Currently I have up to 4gb available on my phone. U will enjoy this phone... I love this phone everyday

Hey am not going personal on you, I never said YOU ARE NOT TECH SAVY, so whats the fuse about?

I haven't used miui Rom truly but I can categorically tell you any ANDROID operating system that comes Pre rooted is not a good one.. Am surprised you are disputing this and that why I said you may not understand if you aren't tech savy.

Rooting comes with a lot of huge dangers and is not advisable by virtually all Android phones manufacturers in the world, that is why before you root your phone there ought to be several stages to undergo (except these Mtk devices which a one click app will help),.. This stages of rooting would at least give an assurance to the manufacturer that those rooting their phones are at leat a bit tech savy and therefore know the consequences.

Why do you think you have to unlock developer mode on your phone, why do you think certain things luke USB debugging have to be enabled and giving express permission before its use, why fo you think the ADB method of rooting will require your acceptance before you can move ahead.? These are controls to ensure rooting "is not so easy" because of the consequences involved.

Having a prerooted device and selling it to someone who isn't tech savy to know what rooting is, is very dangerous and thus I said it isn't a good android phone. Not when we had the stagefright fear just recently that could ruin the whole reputation of Android immensely.

Please if what I have written up isn't clear, you can Google the dangers of using an android operating system (it is open source, so expect this) and then read widely on the dangers of even going further to root an android phone.. This should clear things for you a bit.

But as i said before, if you aren't tech savy at all, you may still not understand this. Merry Christmas.

Like someone said earlier, you need to use miui, then come back to edit your posts.

You may believe you are tech savvy, which I don't dispute BTW, but making a blanket statement that all phones that come pre-rooted are bad phones is odd when you have not even made any investigation on how the miui rom in question handles rooting. Your statement is like saying every Linux computer that gives users the option of having root access is a bad computer or any windows computer that gives users access to administrator account/privileges is a bad computer

Used miui many years back and I can tell you though it's core is Android, it's more like a complete Android fork and so many things are handled differently. It's more like Android on steroids.

Miui is so simple like iOS for beginners (many has regarded it as iOS on Android) and yet has many complex system level customization options to cater for super users.

I cannot go deep into how miui works (been a while I used it), but to my knowledge, I can tell you that even the developer rom that comes pre-rooted, to a normal user, it is still not rooted because apps that require root will never see it as being rooted. So a novice has nothing to fear.
On the other hand, a super user will have to manually go into the permission manager on miui, and manually grant root access to any app for that particular app to see the phone as being rooted.

Also FYI, usually the standard miui rom does not come pre-rooted, but the developer rom or the multilaguage rom does. The standard rom comes only with English and Chinese, some sellers install pre-rooted multilaguage roms to cater for all international (with some sellers, you can choose which rom you want) and even at that, it's still as good as not rooted for novice users.

About the Linux and Windows statement you made.. Are you kidding me like seriously? would a Linux system come pre-rooted? Also if you don't know, it is not easy getting an administrator's privilege on Windows like having an already Pre rooted Android device. That you are logged in Windows as n administrator will never give you administrator permissions until you go an extra mile to get the "true administrator permission ". To confirm this, login to a windows system as an administrator ans try deleting files in Windows32 folders.

From your post, what I can deduce is this:

Its either you didn't get the point of my post one bit or you don't even know what the word 'prerooted' means and are therefore misusing it, but then I will just let it go.. I don't find it very easy to type these says. Cheers.

FYI by default, new windows account when registering is am administrator account, the only difference from hidden administrator account is that on the former, you get UAC prompts while you don't get UAC prompts on the later. Both accounts cannot delete critical windows system files within windows environment. That's the purpose of booting to recovery/WINPE environments. It doesn't take anything away from administrative rights.

Same applies to rooted Android phones, there are just some things you cannot do within Android even while rooted, that's why there's recovery/adb/bootloader modes.

Don't even let us go to LinuxLinux grin

Even on Android, are you aware it's possible to be rooted and yet you don't have write access to the system grin

I have already tried to explain to you that miui take on Android is quite different from what you are familiar with, so whatever your idea of pre-rooting is (since you have alleged I don't know what it means) is not miui take on it. In the real sense, rooting simply means giving or enabling super user/administrative privileges, it is not synonymous with using chainfire superuser, kingroot or any other rooting tools.. It can be as simple as a prompt asking you if you want to continue Eg you have agreed to temporarily give super user access (root your phone) while performing some manufacturer updates when you decide to accept and continue the update.

So when we say miui rom is pre-rooted, it simply means there's an option to give superuser/administrative right to the user, it's not an automatic system wide super user access like you are probably thinking. Sometimes you may even need to flash su binaries from recovery on some xiaomi phones to get system wide access.

This whole discuss still boils down to you accepting the fact that miui is not traditional Android and it's implementation of so many things is different. Just accept you are not familiar with miui approach and move on.

Compliments of the season to you. Forgive my typostypos grin
