Windows ReadyBoost is a great application that comes with Windows Vista and boosts PC performance without the need for additional RAM. This application comes particularly in handy if you use RAM-intensive programs or if you work with several programs simultaneously, which slows down your system as your PC creates swap file on your hard drive to serve virtual memory. Windows ReadyBoost offers a much cheaper and more convenient solution than buying and installing more RAM.ReadyBoost works by enabling Vista to use USB flash drive as a cache, eliminating the need to create a swap file. Because it is up to 10 times faster for your PC to read and write from a flash drive than from a cache on the hard drive, this significantly boosts PC performance.

Step 1
Purchase a ReadyBoost-compatible USB flash drive, which will have a label that reads: "Enhanced for ReadyBoost." The flash drive needs to have at least:*1 GB of storage, with 512 MB free space*5 MB per second throughput for random 4K reads *3 MB per second throughput for random 512K writes

Step 2

Plug the USB flash drive into your PC's USB drive. Click on the option "Speed up My System Using ReadyBoost." Select the option "Use This Device" in the window that appears.

Step 3

Specify the amount of space that you want allocated to ReadyBoost. You may accept the suggested size or, alternatively, adjust the amount using the slider that's labeled "Space to Reserve for System Speed." For maximum efficiency, select a 1:1 ratio to your hard drive.

Step 4

Click on "Apply" and then click "OK" when you are done. ReadyBoost is now enabled.

HOW TO DISABLE IT

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Click on "Control Panel" and then "Performance Information and Tools." Click on "Advanced Tools" and then click "Configure my Windows ReadyBoost Device".

Step 2

Select "Do not Use This Device" in the Windows ReadyBoost Properties screen that appears.

Step 3

Click on "Apply." Click "OK," and you are done.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO SAY THANK UUUU!!!!
