A LETTER TO MY CHILDREN

Every year, they say they are celebrating me. Shops begin to display wares and jingles fill the air. They say they are marking my birthday. My children go all out, some closing their bank accounts and traveling to different destinations, all in my name.
They kill goats, bulls, cows, fowls and their dinning tables walled with assorted drinks eating with their loved ones. My children even go to the extreme. They engage in all manner of dubious business all in preparation for the celebration of my birth. Some even kill their friends, party their lives away and lay claims to what does not belong to them. <!--more-->

Once my birthday comes close, I weep because of the atrocities committed. But what breaks my heart most is that in all these hyper commercialism, drinking and wining, accompanying my birthday, none cares to invite me.
Even when I am not invited, I still find my way to come. But at even at that, most of my children leave me stranded while they celebrate my birthday. They buy all they want to but none remember to give me the simplest of gifts- their lives.
Today, they say it is the eve of my birthday but this is the time some of my children sell their destinies on the altar of sexual immorality. The rest, party wild and do all manner of things. Some leave their homes and beautiful wife, only to be on Delilah’s lap, just because it is my birthday.
Oh, I wish most of my children know that I am very close to them; in the party for my birthday, even when they didn’t invite me. They fence their dinning tables with all manner of drinks and food but as I have said “I stand at the door of your heart and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”-REV 3: 20.
As you celebrate my birth, my children, remember I am the reason for the season. I am love in flesh and so you must let that love lead you in this period and after.
But most importantly, my children, your souls are precious to me and all your celebrations for my day will amount to nothing if you have not opened the door of your heart to me. For my children that have opened their heart for me, don’t let the hustles and bustles of my birthday make you sidestep your faith.
Celebrating me is good but the best birthday gift you can give me is your heart!

Your loving father, Jesus!
LIFE ACT: Assess your activities this Christmas to know if the “reason for the season”, Christ, occupies prime positions.
MEDITATION POINT: REV 3: 20; JOHN 3:16 Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
