As I stand in my kitchen cooking
My mind wonders far beyond the four walls of my small
kitchen
It settles with some special breed of humans
Those who cannot taste the special Christmas feasts and
drinks
Those who cannot receive Christmas greetings and hugs and
kisses
Those for who family is memory neatly tucked in and
cherished under camouflage wears
Those for who December is just another day of battle and
survival
Those remotely hidden far from telecommunication network
Those who's bed is floor and sand and grass
Our soldiers and all military men
Fighting for us while we celebrate
Barely feeding while we wine and dine
Awake while we sleep
Those to who allegiance is more than that to family and
friends, but to country... To serve and to protect, even with
their own lives...
Those we cannot thank enough..
Today, as always, we remember you and thank you immensely
for your endless sacrifice
We honestly wish there was a way we could send you some
home-cooked food,
Some chilled water and drinks and a bite of chicken or beef
Or just to give you a hug and a pat on the back to say :'thank
you guys"..
It is for you guys that I dash out of my kitchen to pen this
down.
