I drive Toyota corolla 2004. I just service it with normal 5w30 oil which I have been using. I woke up and noticed that the oil is short. What is the cause since the car is not smoking and no leakage. |

Took it to mechanic,he checked and he said no leakages. |

ekibor: What type of 5w30 oil did you use? What is the mileage on your car? How long have ypu been using 5w30? Are there previous times you experience shortage prior to this recent shortage? |

I use micking full synthetic oil from automedics where l have been buying my oil. The mileage is 108000. I have not experience any shortage cos I service the car every 4500 miles since I bought it 3 years ago |

blessedchuks86: Read motoroil reviews. OP switch to a thicker grade of engine oil e.g 0w-40(mobil 1) easily found in any petrol station.

blessedchuks86:I had this experience and i mobil1 5w30 and it shorts and i add almost a quart! between service. Apart from changing oil brand, have them check your engine for sludge, it can also cause oil shortage |

ekibor: This 5w30 specification is subject to the mileage, wear and tear in the vehicle, clearance develops in the pistons and rings, you have to compensate wih slightly thicker oil. It will not kill your engine, have a jetta that was originally using 5w40 over time i had to shift to 20w50 due to oil shorting without any traceable leakage in the engine. Vehicle is over 270,000km and going strong, no smoke no strange noise . The choice is yours. |
