A former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
According to him, this would reduce tension in the country.
A statement he released at the weekend appealed to Buhari not to heed the voice of those telling him that IPOB is a militant group.
He said: “I wish to remind President Muhammadu Buhari that every elected leader in Nigeria becomes a prisoner of palace jesters around him and become isolated from realities outside Aso Rock.
“President Buhari should open the prison door now and come out and face the reality.
“I urge President Buhari to release Kanu, the leader of the IPOB, now and dialogue with them.
“The President should not listen to palace jesters who are telling him that they are militants like Boko Haram. They are not.
“While Boko Haram leadership is not visible, the IPOB leadership is visible. Buhari should act now.

There is no tomorrow and blame of being dictator and undemocratic. Buhari is the head of the executive branch of Nigerian idiotic government. DSS in under NSA which is answerable to the presidency. Not once but thrice that Buhari led undemocratic and dictatorial government flayed the orders of the court in Nnamdi Kanu's case. It is plain idiocy to insinauate about tomorrow's name dropping of Buhari's undemocratic government.

Buhari cannot release a person standing trial for grievous crimes..... ...that would be dictatorial...Kanu will have his day in court and if found guilty...he will be sentenced accordingly...

If the government had a solid case of treason against Nnamdi Kanu, one wonders while the government stated with weak and featherweight case such as terrorism. Nigeria is a practical joke. It is funny the idiotic country has brought a charge of treason against Kanu. Has any moronic Nigerian heard that treasonable conspiracy is conducted in public place or arena as they have pointed to the Radio Biafra as the mainstay of the conspirators?

"Unconditional" if at all that, on the counts being charged. He can be re-arraign on fresh charges.

There's a precedence. The security forces rearresting people, especially those deemed to be threats to national security, and charging them on fresh counts didn't start with Kanu.

The dude was talking about stockpiling arms and threatening war on the state. I am not against anybody being released, but I don't know enough of what's going on to question the rationale of the security forces.

I haven't really bothered listening to what he said because am indifferent about the Biafra cause.. What is clear here is that the court cleared him and declared he released unconditionally despite all you claimed he said.. Except you don't believe in the court then we are probably wasting our time and resources on the Dasuki case..
