Chief Olisa Metuh, the national publicity secretary of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that some
members of the party want him to continue to insult
President Muhammadu Buhari as a way to perform as an
opposition party. The All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the ruling PDP in the 2015 general election to win the presidential election and also most governorship and senatorial seats.
The Punch reports that Metuh said on Saturday, December
26 in Abuja that it was not easy to develop the PDP as a lot
of forces were working against the All progressive party.
He said: “We have been rebuilding, but it is not easy. We are
rebuilding, but there are different forces, and contending
interests (working against it). It is not easy.
“On one hand, we are dealing with a ruthless ruling party, and
we also have some divisive elements in our party who are
genuinely accepting some influence in the administration of
the party.
“Knowingly or unknowingly, they are embarking on
distractions and distractions that would rather be in the
interest of the ruling party than our growth.”
He said the party was focused now that it had become the
opposition party. He said the APC did not the election by
insulting former president Goodluck Jonathan and that
insulting the present administration would not boost the
image of the PDP.
“But since we lost the election, we have tried to remain focus
and retain the support of a very large number of our
members to remain focus in opposing this government.
“Some of our members misconstrue an opposition party to be
a party that insults people because that was what the APC
was doing.
PDP’s Strategy Before 2019 General Election
“People want us to insult the President and the ruling party to
remain in opposition. Because we are not doing that, our
people are not comfortable with that.
“They believe that we are too soft and they believe that we are
too academic. They want us to be insulting the people. It was
not by insulting the former President that gave the APC
victory.
“We fuelled partisan support for the APC in some part of the
country.”
Meanwhile, the PDP charged Nigerians to use this year’s
Eid-El-Maulud and Christmas to put aside their religious and
political differences to pray for the unity of the nation.

With the way the ruling party is trading blames and slinging mud,one might be led to think they're the opposition.
Kudos to the party for it's continued showing of immense maturity and professionalism amid the turbulent wave of chaos that has enveloped the polity.
