charlesucheh: Exactly my understanding of the minister's statement. A Shame how the almighty Bonny light now is being bought out of "make we sorry for them". I'm from the "awa oyel" peoples o but walahi I want it to finish so that Nigeria can leave us to rest. Then we can go back to d riri "awa oyel" banga aka palm fruit. Imagine that Malaysia and Indonesia control 80% of world supply of palm oil. that's as Malaysia also being petroleum oil producing o. Now wey palm oil barrel cost pass crude oil na to enter the market after all na still "oil business" 2 Likes |

mployer:The guy is a bloody lair. The USA is expected to join the code market soon. The production will even surpass that of Saudi Arabia. Why on earth will they buy oil from Nigeria? One apc e-rat said for "strategic intrest" the USA would rather give us hand outside for strategic intrest than buy our oil. |

emmygzy: The same yeye government is also spending far more on education than past admins ....especially science and technical education. Important in getting a diversified economy, especially one built on innovation. While agric and mines are important......selling cocoa and cotton and palm oil is not going to make much money for Nigeria....especially as the UK is no longer a guaranteed market as it was in the 1960's. (And countries in Africa that are dependent on Agric and mines....are also dependent on foreign loans for their budgetary needs....at levels greater than Nigeria is.)> By spending more on education, we get better innovators....who it is to be hoped would lead Nigeria down the path of industrial development. That is the challenge that lies in front of us....APC or PDP or whoever. Resource dependency.....whether oil , mines , agric etc will not save us. |

fulanimafia:That is the reality on ground - Last time I checked I didn't see my kinsmen jumping on lorries to become night guard in private houses, fetching water and pushing trucks for a living. Once again, no educated mind should be happy that we are exporting oil only to import the finished product at an exorbitant price . Think my friend , oil will soon become useless . |

Who among us will hire Buhari for a turnaround in his mid size company? Now we expect this man to turn around the largest economy in Africa? We are saddling him with responsibility far beyond his capabilities. As for his ministers, if Fashola, Fayemi,.and Amaechi for instance can not reduce poverty in the states they governed for years, what miracle are we expecting amidst dwindled revenue? The brilliant ones among the ministers probably won't have the gut to challenge Buhari's stance on important issues. But Buhari is not as annoying as his bunch of slaves and almajiris who believe everyone that speaks against their ideas are PDP or Jonathan's supporters. The obvious is that we have a government that is not capable of governance but will rather rely on lies and propaganda to get sympathy from people. As per our oil, I think the earlier we start with diversification, the better for us. We should lessen our dependence on oil as there is a greater indication that the price will decline further. Saudi Arabia even with her reserves of almost 800b dollars is diversifying and has cut her budget spending by 14%. I am trying to see the sense in our forecast and building our budget on 38 dollars per barrel and when oil currently sells below 38. Our gamble may make us to fall on borrowing more. I can only pray for the success of this administration! |

fulanimafia: The government in power (sunni dominat) attacked shiites Muslims, and Iran and other shiites raised hell and threatened Nigeria, and Iran then approached India for a lower supply price of their oil(India being Currently #1 buyer of Nigerian "our oil"......now the US is coming to the rescue....so yu go figure. By the way, "our oil contributes close to 40% of the country's budget financing and close to 98% of the country's foreign exchange earnings. |

Nigerian leaders are incredibly low IQ afflicted. Oil is never coming back up anytime soon except maybe in the advent of WW3. Selling crude now would be far below its real and intrinsic value and would be akin to giving it away for nothing. The sensible thing to do is to stop oil exports and look for a way to exploit the entire value chain in Nigeria. Crude oil has nearly a thousand derivates that are as economic viable as exporting the raw crude ,and the Nigerian crude deposits is not that huge to be wasted on cheap exports. 1 Like |

Last time I checked I also didn't see your kinsmen topping the Forbes list with mine. Neither is it my kinsmen that are hawking gala on the streets thereby constituting a nuisance, or being hung like chickens after violating their bodies for drug trafficking due to poverty and hardship. It's all about perspective son. My only joy with this news is the forex which we will earn that we desperately need to ease pressure on our reserves and give the Naira a fighting chance. Jackrich: |
