whitecloth:Yes you are right. Robots to a very large extent can be involve in some activities where input and output are measured and a feedback is required. These activities are control loops : they can be sent to other planets, send back feedback base on what they see and this feedback are processed to make other valuable evaluation and planning. They are generally used for projects that involves high risk activities mostly in areas where humans can not survive. With all these said, a robot can be sent to a sewage,it can image the exact location of the damage, but can it repair broken sewage pipes? The answer is no. Only human beings can do that. It is a mechanical work that does not involve any precision. As a business man who has a factory you can synchronize your packaging system to robot, that way you remove waste and errors committed by human operators and your products have better finished designs that will encourage your consumers. For wine and food testing, why would you employ a robot to test food and wine? You need trained professionals to do that because you need to access both phycological response of the tester in the process and also it is a very dangerous profession where wrong judgement can lead you sending bad wine or finished food products to the market. Sensory organs are involved which human posses. A robot with good sensory feedback can be designed but can you afford it? The answer is no. So technically speaking, you access risk and compare with cost of the activities. But needless to say, I don't agree to human beings cleaning skyscraper windows. If you need to do that you can use a mechanical device that can lift the human being to the location where cleaning need to be done, better still you can use a robot or install a wiper device for washing and cleaning. I hope am able to help with my response. |
