Tips For Job search In 2016 by skillip(m): 3:13pm On Jan 05, 2016 |
Hello everyone, I will like to share some of the tips that could be of great benefits to those in search of a job in this New year. I will be writing based on my experience. 1. Internship :Even before i gained admission i just knew i will not join the "crowd" writing aptitude test back and forth, mind you not that i was not qualified, neither am i against such. This was what i did. Since i knew the career path i wanted to follow i looked for a small firm that will most likely need my services, I indeed got one. Due to the fact that it was a small place i was able to learn fast, proved myself and within a short time i was offered full employment. When i started as an intern my boss was magnanimous enough to offer me only transportation, which i gladly accepted because i can not buy experience sitting at home complaining that 'how do this company's expect me to have such years of experience?". So how can you get an internship placement? you can make a list of those small companies around you, send an email or visit the office in person, there is no guarantee you will be accepted but don'tlose hope, keep trying. 2. Networking: All the places i have ever worked till now has always been through networking, by this i mean i get to meet people within my sphere of influence relate with them, share my thoughts and learn from them as well, knowing that these people are within reach i easily get referrals for jobs, interview etc. So try and join perhaps a professional networking group like Linkedin and a host of others, make friends with people you desire to learn from or become. 3. Training: One of the few ways i believe you can get a job is through training, you get to meet people from different industry who may be of help or even refer you to some other organization in need of people. I should also add that when you go for training do not be passive, participate in class, ask questions, get involve in group exercise and any other assignment that is expected of you. What if you desire to go for training and you do not have the required training fee? i will advise that you write a strongly worded letter to the trainers stating your reason for wanting to attend and the benefits you will derive from the training. you can as well visit in person to negotiate based on the amount you have at hand. 4. Communication: Most of the things we desire even jobs are within our reach, we just often do miss it because we lack basic communication skills. During my youth service days, i was one of the highest paid corps members, how did i achieve that? I met an indigene who i was able to engage in a conversation and we were both able to strike a cord, when i told him about my inability to get a job in the town, he quickly directed me to where there was a vacancy waiting to be filled and that was how i got the job. What i am trying to say in essence is that we should know how and when we make request if we need one. Indeed, there are many more ways but this ones readily comes to mind. Lastly, for those of us who believe in the God factor let him direct and help you as you play your own path first. I pray that this 2016 for the job seeker and the ones who desire a better job, this year will be the year for better things. Cheers and Happy New year once again!!!!!! 1 Like |
