Have you ever been in a situation where you are about to tweet about something important only to discover that 140 character limit of twitter is making it impossible for you to tweet? I've been in that situation myself and most times you have to tweet it in multiple tweets and label it for your followers to new able to read accordingly. But that's unlike Facebook where you have a larger character limit, hence you can make a lengthy post on your timeline but your friends won't see all the post except they want to.

Well according to Wall Street journal, Twitter is about to adopt that style and allow its users a 10,000 character limit instead of the conventional 140 characters. And the main reason given for such change is because it will be more convenient for twitter user to type longer tweets instead of having to tweet pictures or screenshots of those long posts. Here is a picture of the twitter account of Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, where he made the announcement and the reason behind the transition of character limit for Twitter.

Jack Dorsey later wrote that twitter will still retain its look and feel of its timeline because users will be notified when their characters are more than 140 and also followers will be asked to 'click and read' the rest of the lenghty tweet after the traditional 140 characters limit has been exceeded.

Personally, its a welcome development for me. Research shows that longer tweets has been a requested feature by most twitter users and since there is a click to read option integrated into this new style, am not sure its a problem to anyone, not does it changes the feel and look that makes Twitter Twitter.

The news have met with mixed reaction from twitter users, with some saying that the 140 characters limit of twitter is what makes it original and hence, changing that will be changing a long standing tradition. Some also feel that it will make twitter more bogus and rowdy or it will become like a mini blog platform where users can write as much as they want, and that's something most people don't like to see happen.

So tell us in your comments what you think. Do you feel it will change the look and feel of Twitter? Or do you think it's better....at least for the convenience of its users? Give us your comments.....
