Seriously, Nigerians when pressed are very creative or adaptive I should say. But we have to learn to start from scratch like Innoson motors which should have started a long time ago with Prof. Awojobi idea, actually prototype. The problem is that instead of looking for private investors among out looters, we want Government to sponsor everything. There was a boy from the North that built helicopter from junk yard. If he had built more, selling it as a toy in a very small way, he may have attracted one or more of our looters. Nope. Each and everyone of these creative people want their first million immediately calling on government to sponsor them. The next thing is they want foreign exchange to buy parts to import their creative or adaptive toys. Once you need to import anything to get off the ground, you have defeated the whole idea. Look at what our mechanics do with cars. Some of you are driving Nigerian made without realizing it. They build anything on any chassis. This is not only done in Nigeria. General Motors V8 engine was used to power many Jaguar and other cars in the US. Nobody would even know until they hear the engine. Nigerian made is Nigerian made regardless of where it comes from. It is not a superiority contest. 1 Like 1 Share |

banku: The best comment so far If the Northern boy had gone from school to school offering to use his helicopter to lift people up for #500 per person, he would have built a helicopter amusement/entertainment/ sport/tourism industry. Just imagine lifting 1000 students monthly and each paying #500. It will amount to #500,000. If he takes away operational cost of #200000, his net profit will be #300,000 monthly. #300,000 monthly will help him build more. All he needs to do is to lift them to the height of a 20 Storey building and drop them. Truly the greatest problem hindering technological growth in Africa is the useless orientation of waiting for government to support instead of starting up something and hope that the looters get interested in the idea and invest in it rather than dump their looted funds in Swiss banks. |

After all it is not the Igirigi. instead they are Kraz APCs. Why there are strong similarities between these kraz APCs and the Nigerian Army Igirigi is amazing. No need for all the chest beating and arguments from two years ago till now.
