THE REAL BETTY BOOP: Ms ESTHER JONES

Many of us have seen the cartoon character calld 'Batty Boop' which is usually potrayed as a white girl. The truth is that Betty Boop was actually a negro called Esther Jones.

Ester was an African American singer of the 1920s and was popularly known by the stage name of 'Baby Esther' due to the baby voice she used in singing. She performed at a nightclub in Harlem know as the Cotton Club. Sometime in 1928 when she was performing, a white woman known as Hellen keller saw her performance and (stole/copied) her baby singing voice for a recording of the song "I wanna be loved by you".
Her characted was also used for the cartoon called betty boop and was potrayed as white.

Shortly after the truth came out the whites tried to deny this fact, but those who knew Baby Esther know it's true.
