It is unfortunate that Emeagwali lied about so many things. I understand his profile has been edited by many in the academia and in ICT to reflect his true contributions, not the bogus claims or the overhyped Gordon Bell prize that we hear about only when it concerns Emeagwali. Many called him Doctor, even Ovation magazine once referred to him as Professor, but he is just a Mr. The popular claims that he has 41 patents was due to his application for them, but was rejected because his claims were discoveries and not inventions. Then the Gordon Bell price which he lay claims to was jointly won in 1989 by a team of 9 researchers of which he was a member. Besides, the prize was for supercomputing and not for the more general Computing which is the more prestigious Alan Turing prize. As for his claims to "Father of the Internet", that's another bogus achievement with a long tale. OP, let sleeping dogs lie. |
