Find out what the target job does on a daily basis, what results the target job should produce for the company, and what characteristics the interviewer is looking for, then formulate a way to portray yourself as having those qualities. What that requires is a conscious and strategic method for taking the preferences of the job and matching them with a convincing argument that you meet those preferences. An effective way to do this is to compile some stories, examples and narratives that support your candidacy and to have them prepared and in your mind ready to tell when the element or attribute comes up in the job interview.

Dressing for the job interview only requires that you purchase the right job interview outfit and wear the right job interview outfit on the interview day. Both of these steps are easy, compared to all the other requirements of job searching.
Sure, you want to look good when you go into there, but more to the point you don't want to look bad, as defined by the interviewers that you will see. For that reason, colorful accessories and jewelry art to be avoided by both sexes, as is any sort of hairstyle which calls excessive attention to itself. Shoes, belts, purses and briefcases should also be plain, professional and well maintained.
Remember, the point of a job interview suit is to be as conservative, bland and unthreatening as possible.

Asking questions in an interview that you've already prepared lets you stop worrying about the question that you are going to ask. You've got it already in your pocket, ready to go when you need to use it. One good kind of question to ask like this is to ask the interviewer about what the company is doing now that will significantly change how it does business in the future. This question has several strong points; it shows an intellectual curiosity about the target company, it shows a desire to create a long-term career with the firm, and gives the interviewer a chance to talk while you rest your brain from coming up with answers. Be careful not to ask questions in a job interview that you could answer for yourself with the basic research and investigation you should have done before the interview.

Before your final job interview performing a mock interview may be just the thing you need to give you that final polish. Get a friend or job search partner to pretend to be the final job interviewer and ask the questions that you have predicted. Also, have him or her ask other questions, which he or she randomly makes up to test your ability to stand on your feet. Pay special attention to how well you can turn questions into answers with examples, stories and historical proof of the qualities you are trying to describe.

Write an effective thank you note, simply write those exact same elements, plus add one more factor, the informational gift. The informational gift is a piece of knowledge, a list, an article, a link to a website, a contact number, a tip, anything… which the interviewer finds valuable. You pick out what that informational gift will be by paying attention to what the interviewer is interested in during your meeting with him or her. You can later investigate the topic and try to find something that the interviewer would appreciate.

The informational gift elevates the thank you note after job interview because it distinguishes your letter from the many other letters that do not contain useful information. What’s more, including this information shows the interviewer that you paid attention to what he or she said, anticipated his or her needs and provided something that he or she wanted before you needed to be asked. Lastly, the informational gift creates a slight relationship between the interviewer and yourself, making your future communications much more likely to be read.
