The Oxford Advanced Learners' dictionary defined lover as a partner in a sexual relationship outside marriage. (2) Lovers(plural), two people who are in love or having a sexual relationship outside marriage.

Having considered the meaning of lover(s), should the church or christians celebrate LOVERS' DAY? Is it not a way of celebrating sin?

if you look at the dictionary meaning, lover(s) is a sexual partner outside marriage.

Now what does the bible say about sex outside marriage ?

The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge,... We should try to understand something before coming to make a public stance on it! .. The origin of lovers' day stems from the story of St Valentine.. The day was set aside by the Holy Roman Catholic Church to commemorate the life and examples of this great saint.. The feast day was only recently hijacked by secular society sometimes around the 19th century.

Just like the story of Santa Claus which was supposed to be celebrating the free spirited and generous nature of Saint Nicholas,, but was hijacked!

It is a worldly thing, the devil had since taken advantage of it, and dats while u see all manner of abomination that day...y'all knw wat happens dat day, needless of explaining....dats the most sinful day in the whloe wide world...so, it's a taboo in christiandom...also, most of the churches has modified that day to make it lovers of christ day where they invite youth to come and celebrate God's love which is cooL...why some church celebrate it in a worldly way....in all, we made it look like dat cos the man st valantine according to history died for love, so, we r supposed to go out that day by visiting the motherless, the ofans, and show love unconditionally, bt the youth of today have spoilt it's original intention with their exuberances.

back then the church I used to attend made it a youth thing, the general church don't celebrate it,but they made sure the youths did.
they invite a youth motivational guest speaker,,,,,truthfully by the time the guest speaker finishes his fun interactive session, you would never want to have sex ever again..used to be mad fun, missed it.

I think the Oxford dictionary needs to expand its definition of lover(s)
