Katsina State government has called on Federal Government to examine the statutory functionsof its anti-graft agencies including Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission (ICPC), with a view to streamlining their activities.
This was contained in a communique issued by Katsina State Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, at the end of a two-day retreat for members of the state executive council on governance and reforms, organized by DFID/SPARC in collaboration with state government held in Kaduna yesterday.
The communique also revealed that Katsina government has approved immediate construction of Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Katsina for entrepreneurial development leading to employment generations.
The communique read in part, “The retreat called on FG to examine the statutory responsibilities of ICPC and EFCC with a view to streamlining their activities.
“The retreat appreciates the existing harmonious relationship between the arms of government and calls on all stakeholders to continue to initiate more awareness of enhancing such relationship for the benefit of the state.” The stategovernment pledged to initiate the domestication of the fiscal responsibility act as well as domesticate the procurement act in the state.
The State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, had on day-one of the retreat pointed out that the retreat was organized to acquaint participants with some key principles and tools for effective functioning as well as availing them the opportunity to grasp the policy environment and understand how to establish the linkages that are necessary for achieving result
