The Imo State government has announced that all religious organizations in the state will henceforth be taxed.

Addressing a press conference, on Thursday, in Owerri, the state capital, the commissioner for Internally Generated Revenues, IGR, and Pension matters, Dr Orikaeze Vitalis Ajumbe, disclosed that every religious body that does business in the state will be taxed.

Mr Ajumbe said: “Every church in the state must pay tax. Every one of them that does business in the state must be taxed. Whether they run schools or other establishments, we will tax them.

“Only the offerings will be not be taxed”, he added.

Dr Ajumbe said it was to make government meet up with its responsibility of paying the workers salaries, building of infrastructures and rendering good governance to the people.

He also asserted that with the fall of the crude oil price in the international market, the state government must continue to look inwards in order to meet up with its obligations to the people.

He urged everybody in the state to promptly pay their tax.

The downfall of mortal is accelerated when he invites Divinity to a battleground. I'd advise him to ask Oshiomhole why he rescinded his initial order to tax church signposts in Edo state.

Long overdue. When a Pastor can make 1billion as donation and dish out cars like salad, why won't he pay taxes?

But coming from "One Chance" Rochas, there must be a hidden motive behind it. Maybe one pastor don take him wayo government preach.undecided
