A middle-aged man, one Ogurenya Ogodo of Opherekpe Igbeagu community in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State yesterday allegedly stabbed his brother in-law, one Joseph Elom, for beating and throwing out the wife.

The deceased sister, Ngozi, was said to have attended a burial ceremony for two days and returned home, a development that caused misunderstanding between her and the husband.

Ngozi was reportedly beaten up by the husband over the matter and was allegedly thrown out of the house.

She was said to have gone to report to her father-in law for intervention but could not wait for the man to wade into the matter as she reported to her brother, Ogerenya Ogodo, who mobilized his friends to the house.

Their attempt to resolve the crisis was said to have hit the rock as Ogodo stabbed Joseph for allegedly making inflammatory remarks.

Joe, as he is fondly called, was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost.

Speaking on the tragedy, the village head, Chief Peter Nwiboko, said the matter had caused serious pain to the community and called on law enforcement agencies to apprehend the culprit.

He described the late Joseph as calm man who did not want trouble and wondered why he was killed for a matter that should have been amicably resolved.

The state police public relations officer, ASP George Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said the matter was under investigation.

the sister is the one that did cause the death of her brother because am sure the husband was against her going for the ceremony talkless of her spending two days away from home
