AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY SAYS IT SPENT N30MILLION ON
POWER INVERTERS
Lateef Oladimeji, the Director of Information of Al-Hikmah
University, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday said the
institution had invested over N30 million in infrastructure
development.
Oladimeji told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ilorin that the
infrastructure development was part of the institution’s
commitment to creating conducive learning environment
for students.
He said: “In our quest to further make the university
environment more friendly and conducive for learning, the
university has just installed inverters in academic blocks,
students’ hostels and the administrative block.
“The inverters are to serve the energy purposes of our
students and lecturers whenever there is power outage.
“This has cost the university almost N30 million and have
been installed and very soon they will be put into use.
“We want the students to keep the facilities safe by ensuring
that they do not overuse the inverters’ power supply
because you know it is not the same as the public power
supply.”
In another interview with the Dean of Students’ Affairs of
the institution, Sikiru Nurudeen, he said: “We hope the
students will embrace this development and other
infrastructure developments going on in the university.
“Students should make maximum use of the facility,
especially during the examination period that is coming in
about a month’s time.
“It is because of the irregularities in power supply that we
have put the inverters in place.
“We do not want our students to learn under uncomfortable
environments.
“We do not take academic excellence with levity here.
“We are committed to making teaching and learning
conducive.
