Keep Safe From These New ATM Scams by Mekzmoney(m): 12:05pm On Jan 28, 2016
December 2015, I received a text from a strange number but I was so busy that I couldn't alert my fellow N/landers. But its better late than never. I'm just sharing it so that we can be very careful.
below is the Common Method Fraudsters Use.

"Dear customer, your ATM card has been temporarily De-activated, for Re-activation kindly contact the interswitch management on 08164254739 for more information."

That's the text I got and I knew he's a scammer the moment I got the text but I deliberately called the number to follow it up because I had awoof airtime from mtn. A guy picked the call, I reminded him the text and that I would like to Re-activate my ATM card. He started pressing somthing, like a keyboard because I heard it in the background, maybe he wanted me to think that he's in the office cheesy. He doesn't know that I'm smarter than him. grin.

He said he's working with CBN and that he would like to Re-activate my account bla bla bla. He asked me the bank I'm using (were I'm banking) and i was like "you don't know my bank and you said you could Re-activate my ATM card and that you're working with CBN?" And he was like "my friend, I don't have much time please". Then I gave him a different bank and he finally asked for the serial number on my ATM card (the 19 digits).
That's when I gave him the highest insult of his life. I believe he ended the year in a very bad mood grin.

Has anyone received such sms or any other related scams text? Please share your experience with us.
