Thanks OP 4 ur article No4 & thank God u declared ur faction as APC. d problem d nation faces today is as a result of d greediness of APC officials. Okonjo Iweala clearly told parliamentarians & governors during her days in d office to set our benchmark on $47 & save d rest. ur party vehemently opposed it. that was one of d reasons why Amechi fought to lead d governor's forum. I watched live when a northern APC senator was angrily, without reservation abusing Iweala to d point of calling her derogatory names. ur APC insisted on "share d money" campaign. whatever a man sows, he shall reap. they thought they were working against PDP not knowing they'll soon b there. why r they crying foul 4 meeting an empty treasury? who made d treasury empty?

On the economy, this govt has since slipped from grade D to E and are precariously at the edge of slipping to an epic Fail.

I am simply reminding with wailing wailers/ipob that their goddess was already making noise even when oil was still $75 per barrel and she specifically noted we were going to start feeling drop in oil prices NOV 2014. Oil have been dropping ever since then....hence Magician Buhari needs to be given more time

On the subject of flashbacks:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-09-30/nigeria-s-opposition-wants-to-scrap-sovereign-oil-funds

Is it not ironic that a party that who made it plainly clear that they are against maintaining a savings buffer against a potential fall in oil price now bemoan the lack of savings today?

Lets also remember that many APC run states, including Kemi Adeosun's Ogun state where she was commissioner of finance, were run as if oil prices will never fall. This explains why they have required bailouts. Remember this when you hear these partisan hacks try to pretend they are different from PDP.

Anyone with a bit of sense will know that this government is performing economic miracles given the massive fall in oil prices and the empty treasury they met.

We are on a steady march to a new Nigeria under a sincere and resolute leadership. The era of clueless and corrupt presidency is gone forever. Our task now is to make sure of that by raising the standards in 2019 after Buhari has laid the foundation.

We now have a leader! Sai Buhari.

Buhari has his integrity intact but his economic policies are a disgrace. You are simply praising mediocrity.

Sanusi and Soludo, both staunch Buharist hsve condemned his policies.

Nobody is denying there is a crisis. But the government scores an F9 in managing it.

The naira should hit 400 this year. The economy is finished. I am apolitical. GEJ was inept

Every single day it's the same thing and by now even a newborn baby is aware of the disastrous consequences of the GEJ led government. It's time to move forward, let's give this government a chance to make things better and not condemn easily. By 2019 if things are not getting better then we can vote them out. No sentiments, no partiality; it doesn't matter if it's APC, PDP or ABC Nigerians now know that they have the power to topple any government!

THE AIM OF DIGGING UP THIS ARTICLE:

Pleae note: Madam Okonjor made this assertions in November 2014.

1. This is to remind the Wailing Wailers who keep attacking the current minister of Finance that the ex Finance Minister whom they so much believe in and whom they believe would have been a messiah sounded the alarm of a very tough economy ahead even when oil was still as high as 76usd per barrel. Do I need to remind anyone the price of oil per barrel now?

2. The ex Minister of Finance only saw a need to block revenue leakages when Oil prices started dropping low. Was any action taken after her suggestion? No!!! Rather, despite the dwindling oil prices, CBN became am ATM to allies of the president, where raw Dollars/Naira where withdrawn/tansferred under the guise of phantom projects, bogus subsidy claims, arms procurements. Etc. Now we are suffering of dollar crunch.

Who came on board to block the leakages? The new Sheriff off course, President Buhari.

3. If at $76/per barrel, Madam Okonjor was already ringing bells, why do the Wailing Wailers expect a booming economy from a government which is less than a year in office, and currently selling oil at $28 per barrel? Rather than wailing, they should rather support the government in steps taken to move Nigeria forward.

4. Madam Okonjor needs to explain to Nigerians why Nigeria was not saving for the dry season when oil was sold well above $100 per barrel. What happened to all the revenues generated when oil was booming? We only had booming economy on papers, ordinary Nigerians never felt a booming economy under her watch.

To the Wailing Wailers:

President Buhari have succeeded in blocking a lot of revenue leakages, and is driving seriously for non oil revenue generations as it is evident in the changes made in the Nigeria Customs, FIRS, and the appointment of learned scholar Dr. kayode Fayemi as the minister of Solid minerals.Etc

We have also seen efforts to recover stolen money even though some term it political witch hunting. The almost dead EFCC whose duty was reduced to chasing Internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo boys have suddenly rosen up to their responsibilities. Fraudsters like Olisah Metuh, Dansuki and the likes are already feeling the heat.

Efforts to recover stollen money is also a form of blocking revenue leakages.

The fact remains that APC led government can not correct the 16 years rot of PDP in less than a year and it is illogical to blame the current economic woes on the newly elected president. Only the blind will not see President Buhari is really working to make Nigeria great again.

SO FAR SO GOOD, PRESIDENT BUHARI IS PERFORMING ECONOMIC MIRACLES, HE HAS NOT EVEN BORROWED TO PAY ANY SALARIES

Disgraceful Nigerian youths!

All you could come up with were reasons to substantiate and justify the bad times to come.

Let me also ask you, why isn't petrol sold for N30/liter despite the record plunge in oil prices now?
Was APC not screaming oil prices should have been pegged at N40/liter when GEJ was president?

The, saddening thing is youths would rather claim political affiliation and loyalty, instead of a unified commitment to common sense!

R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D!!!
ECONOMY: Buhari And His Party Worked Hard For Its Destruction Before Winning The Presidency.

Less than four years ago, during Dr Goodluck Jonathan's administration, global oil price was around $100 per barrel on average. Former finance minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala advised the Federal and state governments to save money for the rainy day. She warned that there will be economic crunch like the world experienced in 2007 to 2010. She saw this coming as her prediction is what Nigeria is experiencing today.

General Buhari accused the then government of deliberately trying to starve Nigerians and being insensitive to the plight of the people and asked them to share the saving among the States and LGAs.
APC and her governors dragged her and Jonathan's government to Supreme court, the court judgement went in APC Governors' favour because the constitution drafted by the Military in 1999 did not give room for saving for future.

Government shared the money with state governments after APC and her lying machinery and press told the gullible ones that Jonathan wanted to save money for election campaign. Governors squandered the funds, only a few like Senator Godswill Akpabio, Peter Obi et al saved an constructed meaningful projects.

Today Nigeria's economy is bad and tumbling down, nobody recalls that Okonjo-Iweala warned us ahead of time to save for rainy days. The gullible ones of the broom persuasion are busy calling the best finance minister Nigeria ever had unpleasant names while the world is recognizing her sterling leadership qualities after she shot Nigeria's economy to the top of the African continent for the first time.

Our economy is going down, down in eight months as everything has turned out so bad. Buhari told the world that he will stabilize oil price globally, he should keep to his promise and stabilize it as a barrel of oil crashed to $27. With this downward change, is this how $1 is going to equal N1? As it is N300 to a US Dollar today." - Saviola Godwyn - Hope For Nigeria.

All this process is this current government is rubbish and that Okonjo Iweala was truly a remarkable person.

It also proves how poorly those who have been educated in Nigeria truly are. Since when is it the Finance ministers duties in this present system of governance to enforce States government diversify their resources, production and workforce?

Seriously, someone... any one of your best APC answer that?

Beat in mind the structure of how government is tan in Nigeria. The limited ability of ministers to affect individual States without the Governors involvement, etc..

Yes they promised change and are giving change. Though NOI suggested blocking revenue leakages as far back as 2014 neither she nor GEJ made any moves to block the leakages but PMB has done that..... that is change.
Asking what buffer has been out in place? Let the budget get passed and you will see.
Liar the economy is doing fine unlike other nations that depend on oil like Nigeria , just ask Google.

If you accept that the formal government under pdp did not lay a solid economic foundation even when the coordinating minister alerted them about the looming economic hardship as at 2014 when the oil price was still at 75$ per barrel then you will not expect our able president to do magic and turn things around in just 7 months, the destruction that was carried out for 16 full years. He is laying a very good foundation for the future or do you want us to finish every thing today? Pls Nigerians let us endure for better tomorrow.
