You’ll agree that I have always been helpful in helping you pick out the perfect gift for different occasions and I even heard that someone got engaged because I recommended the perfect gift for Valentine’s last year so take me seriously and pay attention. In 2015, some smartphone makers became really scared and changed their marketing style to reach out to more markets than their home market. Phone makers started selling a “Lifestyle” and not just the hardware. Camera quality and picture editing became a huge aspect of their campaigns. Most of the phones were social media ready with the Instagram app leading the pack. It was the same year some of the smartphone makers selling in Nigeria started to push better products. Some makers who never made phones with fingerprint scanners like TECNO and Innjoo debuted their first finger print scanner phones. But what phones made the list of Top 5 Android smartphones in Nigeria with respect to popularity, appeal as well as slew of features? Here they are No 5: TECNO Camon C8 If not that this phone is not a flagship product, it would have come at number 1. This is the phone that turned many people into believers of the TECNO brand. It is a great phone that captures excellent photographs, great design/finishing, superb size and great price. The phone needs no introduction really. Just Google Camon C8 and see what others have to say about the phone. Although it is a 1 GB of RAM phone and doesn’t have finger print scanner, it is a winner nonetheless. The beautiful pouch that comes with it as well as the fact that it’s dual SIM feature makes it the ideal phone you want to take while travelling. No 4: BlackBerry Priv BlackBerry has not hit it big with old and new users in Nigeria for some time. Determined to reclaim a market where they where once the preferred choice of smartphone users, they released a smartphone in 2015 that is 100% running on Android — The BlackBerry Priv. Has a combination of touch and physical keyboards. What it has going for it is a slug of features. Though it looks bulky, it is not heavy to use. It is also the best Blackberry ever. It has 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage, expandable storage up to 200 GB, 18 MP rear view camera sporting an OIS—optical image stabilization—and auto face detection. The awesome features are a lot. Plus BlackBerries are the best phones to do email on in the world, there is no contest about that. These make BlackBerry appear on this list, though they have not been appearing in any list of phones to buy in a while. We would have to wait some time for it to be released in Nigeria in 2016. No 3: HTC One M9 With design not far of from that one its predesesor which makes it a lot harder to spot the difference between the M8 and the M9. Most of the changes on the One M9 are on the inside. So, why is the One M9 on this list? Glossy premium metal finish with a double tap to wake when the phone is on sleep mode. The previous One M8 has one of the best 1080p display and with the One M9 it is quad HD display LCD with great color at great angle. Has the best speakers in any smartphone. Has Dolby surround sound just like the TECNO Phantom 5, but the One M9 does not have a finger print scanner. Like most Android phones that were released in 2015 it spots a 3 GB of RAM internal memory, with expandable storage up to 200 GB. The rear view camera is 20 MP and can record video up to 2160p (4K video). This makes everything on the phone to be snappy and zippy. Overall the battery life is descent. A pretty good phone you’d want to be seen with as people still admire HTC as a phone brand, even though they are not having a large market share like they used to. No 2: TECNO Phantom 5 This is TECNO’s first foray into a truly premium smartphone. The Phantom 5 screams premium in all angles—coming in Champagne Gold and Space Grey, with very thin bezels a superior 5.5 inch FHD display that is sweet to hold and flaunt. The hardware performance, OS upgrade Potential, shinny and nice will get people talking to you, with a tonne of features that are packed into it. One thing that stands out with the Phantom 5 is that it has one of the fastest finger print scanner on a phone in the whole 2015—faster than iPhone 6 and Samsung GALAXY S6 Edge. Same speed with the fingerprint scanner of the iPhone 6s. However, with the iPhone 6s, you need to wake up the screen before using fingerprint to unlock the phone, but with the Phantom 5, just place your finger at the back of the phone even when the phone is in sleep mode and the phone wakes up and gets unlocked at the same time—that’s solid and fast. With octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, a MediaTek MT6753 chipset, the Phantom 5 is a behemoth—a phone you can throw any activity to and it will handle it with ease, no stress. The phone is a bargain. However, with other flagship products, you’ll have to break the bank to buy them—especially those that have similar premium feel and features that the Phantom 5 has. TECNO Phantom 5 costs only N69,900 in phone retail stores. No 1: Samsung GALAXY S6 Edge This phone is an all round winner. Wins with its design. There is no other phone in the world right now that has this curved edge display at both sides. Samsung is bold with this feature and its gets people’s attention. The gold version of the S6 Edge is a beauty to behold. This curved/edge display doesn’t add much to the phone in the form of function, but makes it really beautiful—a phone you’ll want to flaunt. A splendid accessory to go with your dressing. However, the battery life is not as impressive. If you are out and about, you want to go with a power bank. I know it’s still January but if you need to cop an early Valentine’s Day gift, choose one from above and send me a “Thank You “card. Source: http://www.stylevitae.com/81474-2/
