Are you new in town? Planning on moving to the big city? Or maybe you've just decided to have more male friends in your life? Great! We here at PokeLagos will show you just how to go about your quest for male camaraderie.

Let's face it, male bonding is a true blessing. It's not much fun doing certain things with girls: like watching a soccer game, unless she is a true fan (in which case, never let her go!) and there are some moments you'd rather share with fellow guys in order to avoid female judgement (They just don't understand us sometimes.)

In Lagos, there are numerous opportunities to bond and we guys unconsciously ignore them on a daily basis.

BUILD ON YOUR LOVE FOR SPORTS.
Football is the number one sport in Nigeria, and if you're into the sport, keep a lookout for the open sports houses that televise live matches. There's no better time to be with guys than when you're both celebrating (or mourning) a team together.

Another option is to pick up your jersey and head out on a weekend morning or afternoon and play soccer with absolute strangers. Believe me, they are very welcoming, and who knows? It could become a continuous affair.

If you're into other sports, you could head over to the National Stadium in Surulere for some Basketball, Tennis and other sports or to the TBS Open field for some Cricket or Field Hockey.

ATTEND LOCAL EVENTS AND SERVICES.
Where in Lagos isn't something happening? There's a concert today, a comedy show tomorrow and a beach party the following day. Lagos is bursting with weekly events year round. Keep your eyes peeled, and you are sure to bump into someone who's looking to chat. For the religious among you, head over to the neighborhood church and when the service ends, proceed to introduce yourself!

CONNECT AT A FREQUENT SPOT.
The gym? The Bus route? The place where you have your daily lunch? These are places we guys go to and completely phase out. Why not strike up a conversation? A little starter, like "Nice shoes. Where did you get them?" or "I see you here all the time. Do you work/live close by?" can go a very long way.

BE CONFIDENT.
You're not gonna make friends living a timid life. A man must never expect things to fall on his lap. Be yourself and achieve whatever it is you want.

The point is you're not going to interact much keeping to yourself. You've got to keep moving, and sooner than later you'll find yourself with your group of pals, most likely discussing how bad the Lagos roads are, how your girlfriend is suffocating you, and how you need a damn raise.
