A Toyota earned the highest sales of any single vehicle in automotive history last year. The numbers are in, and tracking service Focus2Move has revealed the top 10 best-selling cars in the world for 2015. Some models saw considerable growth in sales last year while others saw double-digit losses, despite being able to retain their status in the worldwide top 10. www.carworldng..com

10. Toyota RAV4 The Toyota RAV4 continues to be a strong player in the global automotive marketplace, moving 664,382 units in 2015. That’s a 5.5 percent increase compared to 2014’s figure of 629,844. It is one of three Toyota models to be in the top 10.

9. Chevrolet Silverado Try as hard as Chevrolet might, but the Silverado pickup truck still lags behind Ford’s popular F-Series. Last year, the American automaker managed to sell 669,683 units of its Silverado, marking a 12.9 percent growth compared to 593,103 in 2014.

8. Honda CR-V Believe it or not, Honda’s best-selling worldwide model isn’t the Civic or the Accord – it’s the CR-V. Showing just how strong the crossover and SUV segment has become, the Honda CR-V actually experienced a sales drop last year compared to 2014. A total of 696,594 units moved off dealership lots worldwide last year, while 2014 saw 714,373 units sold, marking a 2.5 percent drop.

7. Volkswagen Polo The subcompact Volkswagen Polo isn’t sold in North America, but that hasn’t stopped it from being a hit worldwide. The German automaker sold 698,182 units last year, seeing a 2.2 percent gain compared to 2014’s figure of 683,301 units

6. Hyundai Elantra The Hyundai Elantra has become a popular compact offering in the marketplace and its sales reflect that. Worldwide, Hyundai sold 746,924 Elantras last year, but it’s worth noting that it’s a 9.1 percent decrease compared to the year prior when Hyundai sold 821,298 units. But now that there’s a redesigned 2016 model introduced, perhaps it will pick up some steam in 2016.

5. Toyota Camry The Toyota Camry rose one position to fifth place last year, with 754,154 units sold worldwide. The popular family sedan experienced a 1.9 percent drop in sales compared to 2014, when it sold 768,616 units.

4. Ford Focus The Ford Focus saw the biggest drop of all the models in the top 10. Last year, Ford sold a total of 826,221 units, but that’s a 19.4 percent difference compared to 2014’s number of 1,025,467. As a result, the Ford Focus fell from second place to fourth.

3. Ford f-Series As the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. for the past 40 years, the Ford F-Seriesrose to third place from fourth in 2015. Global sales of the pickup rang in at 920,172 units, a respectable 1.6 percent increase compared to 2014’s sales of 906,071 units.

2. Volkswagen Golf Also rising one rank to second place is the Volkswagen Golf, ending 2015 on a high note despite the diesel scandal. In total, 1,041,279 new Golf compacts were sold worldwide, a 1.2 percent increase compared to 2014 when the German automaker sold 960,569 units.

1. Toyota Corolla The Toyota Corolla did something no vehicle has ever done in history. Selling more than 1.3 million units worldwide (1,339,024), the Corolla retained its title of world’s best-selling car after its sales climbed 4.7 percent in 2015. In 2014, Toyota sold 1,278,909 Corollas, showing just how strong the budget-minded compact really is. The top market for the Corolla is the U.S. with 363,332 sold followed by China with 300,641 units. In Japan, Corolla sales tallied in at 109,027.

I don't like that new Volvo XC90... It does not look like an XC90, but that XC60 as on http://www.vehicle-depot.com/2011-Volvo-XC60-178b website. I was a fan of the old one, but this model upsets me |
