***** NIGER ***** Niger state whose capital is minna is arguably the largest state in nigeria. it has 25 LGA but has only suleja, bida, minna and kontagora as the happening town. The niger state orientation camp is located in paiko very close to minna. Cost of living is slightly higher as compared to other happening towns listed above. Being the power state, electricity is top notch, cost of getting a rented apartment is on the average (say 40k upwards) but depends on quality and location. transportation also couple be slightly exprensive considering the large land mass of the state. Just like ogun, Niger state offers you the opportunity to relate with abuja in term of job hunt because you can easily breeze into abuja for that interview and back without any much problem. Lastly, most of the corpers are posted to schools & it should be at the back of all pcm that niger state is b partial sharia state. hence some social activities are carried out codedly. cc chumaster #edited 2 Likes |

Benue state is one of the middle belt state bordered by kogi, enugu, nassarawa, Taraba, cross river states. Major tribes are Tiv, idoma and igede though there are large numbers of igala, Hausa n Ibo communities within the state. Despite being referred as one of the northern states, it's a predominantly a Christian state. Hospitality of the people to corpers is awesome, at least from what I have seen and heard. As the food basket of the nation, food is relatively cheap n in different varieties. Accommodation within the capital makurdi is averagely cheap n affordable though cheaper in other local governments but less comfortable there in terms of electricity and water supply. The ladies are the best in the world if you" know your way and understand their ways ". No much industrial activity though, purely an administrative state in terms of federal and state civil services. The state is largely a peaceful state and corpers are warmly welcomed and accommodated

*Clears throat* Now I want to talk about my state. DELTA STATE The biggest heart Delta State is an oil and agricultural producing state of Nigeria, situated in the region known as the South-South geo-political zone. The capital city is Asaba, located at the northern end of the state while Warri is the economic nerve center of the state and also the most populated located in the southern end of the state. Delta State is ethnically diverse with peoples and seven major languages and dialects are spoken in the state. The state is divided into two regions on account of state creation movements (between 1976 and 1996) which was a feature of the military governance of Nigeria. This culminated to the increment of states in Nigeria from 12 states to the present 36 states. Delta State is ethnically diverse with peoples and seven major languages and dialects are spoken in the state. The first group are Anioma (Igboid group) which consists of Aniocha/Oshimili, Ndokwa/Ukwuani ethnic nationality, and Ika. These areas occupy the Delta North senatorial district of the state. The second group comprises Urhobo/Isoko (Edoid group), Itsekiri (Yoruboid group), and Ezon ethnic groups. These ethnic groups occupy the Central and South Senatorial districts of the state. The Urhobo and Isoko speak very similar dialects unlike the Ezon and Itsekiri people but have a loosely related culture as they traded and intermarried for centuries before colonization. The Itsekiri are linguistically and culturally related to the Yoruba and Edo ethnic groups of Western Nigeria, while the Ezon are a branch of their kith and kin in neighbouring Bayelsa state. Most inhabitants of the state practice Christianity and very few traditional faiths—although the Ukwuanis also have many cultural affiliation with these groups most especially in their cosmic outlook. LOCAL GOVERNMENT Delta State consists of 25 Local Government Areas. They are Ethiope East, Aniocha North, Bomadi, Ethiope West, Aniocha South, Burutu, Okpe, Ika North East, Isoko North, Sapele, Ika South, Isoko South, Udu, Ndokwa East(My Local Government) Patani, Ughelli North, Ndokwa West, Warri North, Ughelli South, Oshimili North, Warri South, Uvwie, Oshimili South, Warri South West, Ukwuani. For your PPA, You may find yourselves in any of these Local Governments. The camp in Delta State is in a village called Isselle – Uku, about 20 minutes from Asaba, the capital. According to some past corpers, Delta camp is fun. The state pays 5,000 naira, i dont know if this has changed now but i think its still the same. JOB OPPORTUNITIES Most of the big companies are easily located in Asaba and Warri, Sapele, Ubulu ukwu, other local governments too have companies but not as much as the ones in the first two cities. FOOD One of the most popular and tasty dish of the Deltans is Ofe Nsala and pounded yam. This is mostly common to the people of Ndokwa east. So if posted in Ndokwa East, dont dare to leave without tasting this delicacy. You will never be dissapointed. Other popular foods are Ofe akwu (Banga soup), Ugwho soup and Usi. Food items are really cheap as well. PEOPLE The people of Delta state are very accommodating, welcoming, friendly and warmhearted. Get ready to be over-embraced for coming to the community. Very high respect is given to corpers. You might sometimes end up getting any commodity for free because you are a corper. *Warning* Dont misuse the opportunity o! LIVING CONDITIONS For those who may not want to be in the corpers lodge, you can get a room between 50-100,000 a year, depending on what you are looking for and where . Its a very peaceful state. On the downside, you may not get water or light in some remote villages. Please dont go and come back without learning one delta dialect. Deltan language is very sweet and easy to learn. You must tell me what you learnt when you come back. NOTE* Please learn to ask questions once in Delta state expecially if posted to the remote villages. There are farms, fruit trees that you shouldnt pluck or go into except if given the permission. To avoid theft, local farmers sometimes uses charms to bar thieves from reaping their harvest. If you are posted to Ndokwa east, No swimming in the River Niger if you are not a Pro Pro. The water is very tempting but its deeper than you think. Dont say no one told you. Well. thats all the research i could come up with for now.
