The recent strike action embarked upon by the academic staff union of universities ASUU reminds us yet again of a huge mountain standing in the way of making Nigerian graduate worth anything when hung out to stand the rigorous tests of ever increasing international standards.
The unions demands to remedy this decadence has been popularly summarised into 4 viz
1. Autonomy of schools
2. 26 percent of federal and state budgets.
3. Increasing retirement age to 70
4. A 109 percent salary hike.
This was the conclusion after two and half years of "scientific" investigation. Is this what we need to stem the brain drain?
