Woke up this morning to find this beautiful plantain trees on our accommodation. Thought it was an harvest time.

This is a protest SHUT DOWN by the Imiringi community in Kolo-Creek, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa state.

Imiringi, Otuasega, Elebele and Oruma communities are hosts to SPDC operators of the KOLO-CREEK OIL AND GAS FIELD in Ogbia LGA.

Currently NESTOIL is the contractor handling the MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR Kolo-Creek( Bayelsa) to Soku( Rivers) - K2S 20" 42km gas line project for SPDC.

Imiringi hosts NESTOIL accomodation camp, site camp for offices and logistics and as well as a land skid.

THEIR REASONS FOR NESTOIL SHUTDOWN
1. Owing of communities contractors for some six month4

2. Owing of communities workers for several months.

3. Deceit and untruthfulness of nestoil in its commitments to wiillingly entered agreements - we will pay tomorrow, then next week syndrome.

4. They are asking for the sack of the Construction Manager, AUSTIN BOB-MANUEL and the Site Manager, AGBANOBI FIDELIS as they can no longer work with him due to their high-handedness and poor administration style.

5. Non maintenance of their roads being spoilt by nestoil light and heavy duty vehicles.

6. Etc....blah blah blah

They have vowed never to reopen the camps until all conditions are met.

This is your company right or are you a member of the community? Are you supposed to bringing your company's matter here?

What's the rationale behind tying banana trees to the gate.... Is that the new way of protesting?

Ondo probably has a drum of oil.. help us name the IOCs operating in ondo and their office address. Tnx.

As for Lagos, its a phamtom oil existing only in the imagination of dreamers.. feeling is believing.

Pls tell Jadesinmi or LADOL or whatever to save themselves the stress of building a dry dock because we go frustrate the hell out of it.

Let me assume you are serious, the dry dock is not meant to service Nigeria alone, I wonder why the likes of you go about sabotaging investments in our region (Niger Delta) and expect more to come in.

Yorubas would be angry if cocoa is produced in SWest and the processing factory is in Enugu.

Yorubas wont have problems with that if its cost effective and makes economic sense. Yorubas are reasonable people.

Definitely. We Nigerians don't like being objective. But I thought the dry dock project is private. Private investors should be free to locate their investments anywhere they feel comfortable with. People from the Niger Delta need to take the lead in oil and gas and ship projects. Why are they not doing so?

i will remove it, fling them away and nothing will happened, this was done by the youth in the name of the community in our jetty in Port Harcourt they want us to pay 50million, and people are shouting when i was trying to open the gate, i did and people began to fear me in the area, and guess what? i didn't do any jazz!! a week later, we gave the 500,000 and they never show up again!

the is one of the reason we need to build that dry dock in Lagos and not that Aje in Bayelsa, South West is peaceful with no millitancy
did u say peaceful? With those touts?

Cost effective and economic sense is by siting oil installations and related investments in the Niger Delta . If Buhari cannot deal with insecurity and restiveness in Nigeria, its an indictment on him as the President of the country.

You claim Insecurity and youth restiveness in the Niger Delta, yet Nigeria still produces more than 2million barrels per day from the same region.

Bunch of fvckers. NDelta is only good for exploration and oil spill while Lagos deserves dry dock.

If your people keep blowing up the oil and gas installations which some companies might have taken huge bank loans to procure, then that does not make any economic sense. Talk to them to cool down, acquire the necessary skills and drop the arrogant posture that they can even demand for Obama's head because the oil is from their region. I believe every oil firm will take their needs into consideration.

Politics is the reason its being sited in Lagos. We had to literally fight for NLNG to be relocated to Rivers.. Lagos does not contribute any single cubic of gas but was very willing to collect tax from resources it doesn't own.. utter rubbish.

You are talking about the issue of security. The govt is empowered by law to secure strategic national assets. If the govt cannot do its constitutional duty, it shows they are inefficient and irresponsible... blame them.

Agbami is one large field operated by chevron in the Igbokoda/Ilaje area of Ondo State and its a large one at that.

Yet its not the only one as I know mobil also operates in the area.
So ........

While I see sense if LADOL's yard had been in the Niger Delta.
But people don't start such ventures without serious pre-feasibility analysis.
So who blames a businessman for siting his business where he desires and is assured of better returns?

Agbami field is located in nearly 1,500 meters (4,900 ft) of water off the central Niger Delta. The operator of the field is Star Deep Water Limited, an affiliate of Chevron. Also involved in the field are Famfa Oil, an indigenous oil company owned by the Alakija Family of Lagos, Petrobras (Brazil), Statoil, and NNPC (the national oil company of Nigeria).

It was discovered in late 1998 and the second major deepwater oil field discovered off the Niger Delta; the first being Bonga Field by Shell.

Agbami's output is about 250,000 BOPD.

Yes Nigeria produces 2 million barrels but it is supposed to be doing 2.8 million per day if not for the useless insecurity.

Even out of the 2 million about 505 are now from offshore. Offshore that use to account for less than 20% when Nigeria use to produce 2.4million barrels per day. Gone are the days!

Southwest has no oil, so its not expected of them to block gate. Southwest is feeding off from the Niger Delta.

do you know how much Lagos state Generate without oil every year? no state generate that in Nigeria.
and there is oil in Lagos State, Folawiyo rigs and Ondo State is one of the Niger Delta State with oil.
so, get your fact right!
