Biafra: Court Rejects Application For Nnamdi Kanu Trial To Be Held In Secret by Detailnews: 2:18pm On Feb 19, 2016
Court has rejected an application by the country’s intelligence agency for the trial of Biafran activist Nnamdi Kanu to be held in secret.

Kanu, 48, is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group, which campaigns for the independence of a region in southeast Nigeria. He appeared in the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday to face six charges of treasonable felony, along with two accomplices. Kanu denies all the charges against him. Treason carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment , according to section 41 of Nigeria’s Criminal Code Act 1990.NAIJABET.COM

The U.K.-based activist, also the director of underground station Radio Biafra, was arrested by members of Nigerian State Security Service (DSS) in Lagos in October 2015 and held in their custody until January. On January 20, the court ordered that Kanu be transferred from DSS custody to Kuje Prison in Abuja. He was later denied bail on the grounds that he was apparently a threat to national security.

Justice John Tsoho rejected an appeal by the prosecuting counsel, Mohammed Diri, for the trial to be held in secret and judged that it should be open to the public.NAIJABET.COM

The Daura shoe shiners (DSS) will not stop disgracing their selves.

How can someone appear as a masquerade in the court to testify against someone?

The life of that man behind the masquerade or inside the masquerade is not important than that of Nnamdi Kanu.

If he or she is sure of his or her testimony let him or her come out openly and testify.

So the Nigeria security forces with her might and power to shoot at unarmed civilians is not capable of providing security for their masquerade? .

Are you "fine" that the country after how many years cannot even operate a national airline, or that the Naira is almost trading at 1-n390? Or that the NFF is owing the team coach 6 months salary, or the lack of steady light as usual, or that former coup plotters are being celebrated as Presidents?

Shine your eye

Why are u happy that he is in prison?
Is it a crime for somebody to agitate for his tribe?
Comments I read here atimes makes me wonder the kind of humans we have in nigeria.
If u are ok with the way nigeria is and is been ran, some tribes are not ok with it.
And it's not a crime to protest against it.

Yet again the dss made a mock of things.

I wonder when we'll learn how to properly investigate and convict persons.

God help them.

If they don't have a case why don't they release the young man who has outwit them on all fronts.

Dont get emotional bro, in a sane country this case lacks merit even with the purported video which I will like you to watch if you have not done so. All the FG is trying to do is keep kanu behind bar for the main time, likely the will use appeal to do so. One funny things about criminal prosecution is that you must proved all the allegation beyond reasonable. Even if DSS prove 5 out of its 6 count charges, that remaining one nullifies the other.

The case has given birth to the real emancipation of Biafra nation as we all craved for whether kanu is convicted or not, an idea which this present government could have killed with tact and diplomacy. At it stands now negotiation is not an option again especially with the gruesome killing of IPOB members.

FG has lost this case no matter where pendulum of justice decides to swing finally.
Lesson: democratic leadership is more of tact that than might.

you don't agitate using the wrong channels. He was inciteful and showed an unmitigated incivility in the course of his agitation, so he must be dealt with.

If they want to deal with him, the trials should be open, and courts orders should be followed, not all these kangaro approach the government is using. Seriously they are making that guy a big hero
