Countries (smart ones ) exploit the international economic system to achieve their goals....the bottom line in all things aren't always equal (and is not here) and economists particularly in the emerging markets were able to formulate policies that lifted their economies.
I hv very little regards for wall street economists and those whose entire focus is on the "equilibrium point".
China developed pegging the yuan to the dollars. It even entired WTO on their terms.
