IrohinO’odua names Aregbesola Yoruba Man of the Year 2015
The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has been named as the Yoruba Man of the Year 2015.
In a statement released on Tuesday, foremost Pan-Yoruba on line media, IrohinO’odua said Aregbesola was picked by members of its Editorial Board made up of seasoned journalists and writers.
“ Today, we announce Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola as the Yoruba Man of the Year 2015. We picked Ogbeni Aregbesola on three grounds: his investment in education and human capital development, through the new schools he built for children of the poor across Osun State, his promotion of Yoruba Regional Integration, his honesty, high moral grounds and non-corrupt disposition to management of men and material in the State of Osun.”
The online media said that Ogbeni Aregbesola took up the greatest investment any state can endow on her citizens by building world class primary schools in a country where excellent learning environment has been the exclusive right of children of the rich. He introduced the free feeding project for pupils of primary schools in a country where good food is for the very few children of the privileged.
Within the few months of his introducing the free feeding programme, the primary school enrolment had increased by over 30,000 of pupils who hitherto were shut out due to their extreme poverty.
Aregbesola feeds 254,000 pupils per day, and has empowered 3,007 community caterers. The amount allocated to feeding each pupil he has increased to 250naira. This unique feeding project has direct bearing by increasing the quality of health of children and by lowering child and infant mortality rate in the State Osun.
The enrolment scheme of pupils has increased primary school enlistment to between 80 percent, the highest in the country. For instance, Kebbi and Yobe States today has 10 percent enrolment each. Even Lagos, Ondo and Rivers fall between 60 percent enrolment. Ogbeni Aregbesola’s government has built over 25 schools.

The group stated that Ogbeni Aregbesola also deserves the award because he withstood the mockery of his adversaries during gubernatorial election in the state of Osun, a heroic calling that paved the way for the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) at the national level.
“When Nigerians saw that a small state like Osun could humiliate the Federal Government by defeating its array of armed forces, armoured tanks and battalions of soldiers and armed militants, Nigerians’ hope and courage were reinforced tenfold. He was threatened. The deadliest assault state machineries were arrowed at him by the ousted regime, Ogbeni Aregbesola did not budge. He stood his firm ground in the face of one of the most horrendous institutions of power. This courageous stand manifested in the outcome of the 2015 Presidential elections. Osun was the first to set the pace for the freedom of Nigerians from the chilly claws of a cruel government.
We commend Ogbeni Aregbesola for running the State of Osun as a Pan Yoruba State with several of his programmes designed to create the Yoruba renaissance.
We make bold to say that since coming to power in 2010, Ogbeni Aregbesola has not earned a penny as monthly salary. He has no home abroad. He has no investment abroad. He lives a simply life. He is honest to a fault. We are not surprised that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi conferred on him the title of Omoluabi of Yorubaland. Ogbeni Aregbesola deserves this award and more.
Irrespective of the impact of the economic downtown in his state, Ogbeni Aregbesola has been able to wither the storm. He was isolated by the ousted PDP regime and psychologically assaulted, but he came out of the battles through sheer courage, strong will, honesty of purpose, commitment to his vision and a dogged spirit of defiance against evil.
We are convinced that Ogbeni Aregbesola is qualified to lead the Yoruba people in the obviously turbulent challenges that lay ahead of our people.

Who cares?
As long as he does not determine national direction or play in federal politics, then i don't think most people would give a hoot about whatever yoruba award the nitwit wins.
Who am i even kidding? He is probably more cerebral than the current president.
