Buhari has been right to reject such an alliance. Saudi Arabia might soon end up participating in a bloody and destructive war against Iran and Russia. Nigeria doesn't need this, and neither does it have any business interfering in the Sunni-Shia rivalry.

So where in the report does it say we turned down an invitation. I have heard on CNN many months ago when the coalition was formed and Nigeria was listed then. So which one is being turned down again?

Nigeria was erroneously listed as a member of the coalition in the initial media reports. This was based on a list of potential members that was drawn up by the Saudis.

Garba Shehu then issued a statement to clarify things (check the third link I posted earlier). Garba Shehu said that

“Nigeria has been formally invited to be a member of the alliance”, but that the “decision to join has not been taken yet”.

That's the invitation that you asked for.

And in this report, President Buhari said:

"Even if we are not a part of it, we support you. I must thank the Kingdom of SaudiArabia for the recent creation of a coalition to address the menace of international terrorism.

"Nigeria will support your efforts in keeping peace and stopping the spread of terror in your region. This is in consonance with our own commitment and on-going efforts in seeking to stamp out Boko Haram terrorists from the West African sub-region and Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC)."

Question is, Why wasnt Ghana or South Africa invited? Good he politely rejected the invitation but it doesnt change the fact that Nigeria is regarded as a muslim country international and why do we have arabic written on our currency? I have been based in Arab countries and some marvel when i tell them most Nigerians are Christians but i dont blame them, after all our government sponsor pilgrimage trips yearly for Muslims with tax payers money and no one is talking about it not knowing this are loop holes affecting Nigeria as a country.

My broda support is anoda word for joining to make us feel relaxed. Its all a game cuz he did not reject participating. We need more hands to fight boko haram and he chose to support the fight against Isis that dont care about Nigeria for now. I just hope they wont remeber Nigeria since we have chosen to support a war against them.
