Fables are conjectures used for moral and social upbringing of a child. It is a very important ingredient of socialization. Fables are universal as it cut across societies and transcend man himself. It is often used as restraints from a particular behaviour or to stress the existence of supernatural forces. And also, to explain how these forces may come to affect our lives.
Fables may be false.
It is called 'Fabu' among the Yoruba people. Some of these 'Fabus' are given below:

1. When you draw a line and ants get into the line, one mother's breast grows too big
2. The skies were closer to us, but our sins made it farther
3. If you watch TV while its raining, god of thunder(Sango) will carry the TV out of the 'Parlour' and strike it into bits.
4. Some men dug soak away and got to a new world or heared voices of people beneath saying 'Who are those throwing stones on our 'Pan' (Zinc or roofing sheets)
5. It is very wrong to stay at the middle of the entrance door while its raining
6. Awolowo appeared in the moon, days after his death.

Share your own fables.
