– The first edition of the Lagos Barbecue
Series held in Lagos recently and it was a
swell night of fun
– A-list Nigerian musician MI Abaga was
the headlining artiste and guest celebrity for
this edition which kept fans engaged all
evening long

Lagosinurface among others
The first edition of the Lagos Barbecue
Series (LBBQs) held on Tuesday, February
23 in Ikoyi, Lagos and it was an evening of
fun, music and refreshment.
The LBBQs is basically a “meet and relate”
evening between fans and their favourite
celebrities.

Chocolate City rapper and executive MI
Abaga was the guest celebrity and
headlining artiste for the event, and he
treated fans to a cool session wherein he
provided answers to some intimate
questions revolving around him and his
career as well as Chocolate City
entertainment company in general.
The rapper connected with his fans and they
got to see him in a different light from the
enigmatic rapper on screens.
A brief and fun interview session took place
with the LBBQS hosts Dola and Dapo drilling
The Chairman with questions, most of which
he didn’t expect. He responded to these
questions and it was a fun evening.

The audience was also wowed with a
splendid performance from an eight-year-old
child star Jenyo Atoloye of Rosecroft
Preparatory School who put up a superb,
controlled sax performance.
When asked about his relationship status
and the woman in his life he gave an
interesting response.
The Chairman rapper said the character MI
cannot have a relationship.
He said: “You see, MI cannot have a
relationship for many reasons and people do
not understand this.
“MI is a concept, an idea, and this is why he
cannot be caught up in anything like a
romantic affair. On Instagram MI is one thing,
on Twitter MI is another concept, right here MI
is an idea. This is how it goes and switches
based on the situation.”
He managed to crack the audience up with
his response on this as well as on other
questions through the night.
In response to the issue of fellow Chocolate
City rapper and label executive Ice Prince
Zamani and the allegations of his girlfriend’s
infidelity, MI said Ice Prince was a very
smart man in the whole issue.
He added that Ice Prince had to respond in
the most logical way possible given the
issue in question which was a really good
thing.
During the event, The Chairman also talked
about his upcoming mixtape The Illegal
Music III which could be his final mixtape.
It is expected to drop in late February. Also,
he plans to drop another album soon.
When asked if that will be his last album he
responded saying it cannot possibly be his
last even though he would be relaxing on a
lot of personal projects to focus more on
running Chocolate City.
MI also hinted the fans and press men
gathered on the night that he has a joint
album with Cobhams and 2Baba already
almost done, as well as a personal album
which was completed years ago.
He sure has an arsenal of songs and with
his plan to drop two a mixtape and album
back to back this year, one can only wonder
how many completed songs he has.
The LBBQs climaxed with upcoming singer
Arewa, fresh from a recently concluded
music reality show, performing MI’s One
Naira while the rapper himself took charge
of the piano and they both combined to
really heartwarming effect. A remix of the
songs with her won’t be bad.
The LBBQS garden was opened up with MI
been presented the LBBQS souvenir, a
customized apron.
Chef MI went on to grill before everyone
gathered on the night.
He also got to nominate Banky W, Bovi and
Toolz as celebrities he will love to see on
the next edition of the show.
The audience also enjoyed shawarma, grilled
chicken and finger foods from Grind Grills
Outdoor with protein supplies from Benox
Farm and small chops by Delicacies Plus.
In addition, refreshing drinks coming from
Cocktails In & Out, Fresh Juice from
Fontaine De Vie & Water from Etana kept
the people elated.
Ohlala also helped provide desserts at the
event.
It was a perfect avenue to network and
share ideas between young minds.
The event was produced by 1908, A4 films,
FullHouse, Matrix and Design Works.
The outfits were provided by Orijo Deals,
Vivi Fashion and Bumi Deju while styling was
by Crystalswish.
Security was provided by Spartan, while MI’s
souvenir was framed by Rottit Resources.
Multimedia was by Stretch Audiovisuals.
It was proudly supported by Lagosinurface
and Naij.com.
The event was powered by H09 with
additional support from Chocolate City Music
Label and 10A Event.
The audience was mostly made up of 50
fans who won themselves invites to the
LBBQs via a social media process.
The organizers have promised to engage
fans for subsequent editions this same way.
